WE NEED YOUR CAR FOR XBOX 360 VIN DIESEL GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Discussion
Hi,
everybody we need your cars for an amazing racing game coming out on the xbox 360.Do you want to hear your car in a game and get on the credits list. Basically we need to record engine sounds. We do have a list of the type of cars we are looking for, but we do not want to narrow our chances of finding cars,we want a big variety of sounds from big to normal, from petrol to diesel. tech info:
Option 1
We need to capture your car at rev ranges from 1-7 or 1-6 (depending on the car). You will have to hold your car at each rev for 15-20 secs. The engine will need to be under stress for use to get the best sounds, one option is to take the car up a step hill and hold all the rev ranges in first gear. ONLY IF YOUR CAR IS GOOD ENOUGH TO TAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Option 2
You take your car to a rolling road in warwickshire where we record the car
Both options we give you £50 for your trouble and pay for all petrol there and back, or with option 1 we pay for petrol costs for driving.
This is your chances to get your car in massive xbox360 game and maybe even in the film. We are Midway games based in the Newcastle area. Cheers. Richard

Dissertation is finished, have a look www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=13&t=369848&p=1
But I have 2 more assignments in for the same day (Thursday) so still working hard for a little bit longer
I won't be at the next pub meet, possibly the May one. I shall keep my eyes open for you anyway, I'm moving back to Sheffield on Saturday!
cheers for the replays... as for the car list, we basically need everything and anything, at the moment we have quite a few fhe high performance cars, but are missing 4x4s (range rover would be good!), bikes and anything that runs on diesel! Also if you know anyone with a bus that would be great (no joke!).
The dates for the recording session are still a bit vague, but I guess that sometime around the end of April, probably at the weekend. (but if you are free during the week pls let me know!)
I will post more when I know more!
cheers R

Rolling road roller whine is very loud, as are the fans which you will need to use to cool these cars revving hard and under load while not moving.
I've tried to get samples this way in the past and the amount of post filtering to get them really clean pretty much ruins the samples authenticity...
Are these roller sites the hub dyno's?
I've always wondered of the best way to record cars, from what I've read the Polyphony Digital (Gran Turismo) rev the cars on the spot with a few hard reference blips... though obviously on and off load character is hard to get.
Let us know how you get on as I've been trying to work out the best method for years

Chipped and acclaimed performance 3litre BMW diesel in my hands...
Evo Magazine says " the first diesel you could desire - BMW 330d"
Sounds like a laugh this, but if you are trawling for cars to nick on one day and this is a massive hustle...... then be damned and to hell with you scoundrels.
