Harewood Hillclimb Practice March 25th
Discussion
Yet again I'll be competing in my self built [pic] http:www.car-toons.co.uk/index.asp?func [/pic] this season and will be at the practice day. If it's anything like last year we'll all need thermals as well as racesuits. Look me up on the day for a chat and a shivver.
Cheers

I might pop along if the weather is a bit better than it has been the last few days. Really want to get along more this year as I missed most of the meetings last year...
Only time I saw Simon Bainbridge's V8 TT TT and he went off with what looked like collapsed suspension

Same, been a couple of times, really should go more often as its cheap, and only 20minutes from home.
That TT....The yellow thing? I dont think theres much 'TT' in there to be honest..!

Well, if you count the twin turbo's as TT then it's 'TT' hehe
Stonking car, loved the S2 which I saw a few times, but the 4.2 TT is just bonkers... seriously special car! I bet it doesn't weigh much over a tonne
And the fibre-lyte website says it can run up to 800bhp
Dave
My first time there must have been about 4 or 5 years ago, Ferrari UK owners club were running a class.
Not ideal situation to be caning a big Ferrari - Some guy came stonking round the last corner in a 328 gto (IIRC, wedgy learly 80's model), big, long, leery powerslide, fear in his eyes.
Manages to completely miss all the gravel on the left hand side, and hits the little steel box the timing beam is hidden under.
'Bugger'.
Whats on this weekend? Just 'open practice'? Think I'll bob along for a few hours, wont be more than a couple of quid surely?
Only just up the road for me.

I'm from down Garforth way, so only about 15 mins away.
Drive past Harewood most Sundays on my way to my parents for free Sunday dinner, often spotting lots of fancy cars along Harewood avenue and thinking "doh, forgotten again"

I'm just over the other side of Wakefield road, in Beirut
Nah, shouldn't be harsh on where I live now. Not a bad area. Just lucky enough to grow up out in the Dales so anywhere urban feels a bit crap...

I'm from Garforth too, small world.
Hehe, by Beirut I meant Swillington
Garforth seems nicer, just most of the houses we looked at were hitting Monk Fryston kinda values when we bought, so it was either take a "do you upper" for a fair bit less, or live out over Selby way... paying a premium for Garforth felt a bit silly.
But then prices are bloody madness at the moment in this area, pretty sure we'd only just be able to afford our own house today after 35%+ pay rises over the last three years. Mad!

Tell me about it.
Its not that nice or special, just a big expanse of housing estate. The reason its expensive is theres lots or relatively nice houses, and its probably got the best transport links for anywhere in this area. From where I am I can be on the A1M in less than a mile, and be on a 15min train ride to leeds within 200yds of the back door.

Yep there are some nice houses, but way out of my reach for now
The average houses are ok, but prices have changed so much. I'd be over Hambleton way for the same kind of money... then again I am lucky with where I work and commuting time/route is easy for my partner and I, so moving away wouldn't hurt as much as if we worked in Leeds itself... we literally hit no traffic so to speak and get to work in 15 mins, and thats one to Wetherby one to East of Wakefield!
Train to Leeds + A1M is a good + point of Garforth where you are... really is a spot on area for getting places quickly... like A1M, Collingham, Harewood in 15 mins

Right, I'll be there...mates turning up now so I'll be popping along for a chat
Right chaps - Keep your eye out for a Burgundy BMW 7 series (with Burgundy Battlecruiser on the plate) and a guy with glasses, camera and probably either a beige coat or same colour cardie
If you spot me, come say Hello
