BBB&B'07 convoy & food planning (with apologies to Bob-San)
Discussion
righty-ho.
it has been mooted that there could be a c*nvoy to the BBBB'07 involving people from all over the country converging on various points and and thence to a wickle barn in l'countryside(innit).
I will be leaving leafy Alderley Edge in a green Lotus at approximately 10am (unless anyone can suggest a more appropriate time) looking to meet at the services on the M62 near Manc at about 11:30 with coffees and half an hour chat whilst we wait for the latecomers (me) as this seems fairly central for most people.
I think that we shoul then be able to get to the barn for about 1pm including the occasional stop off to admire the view of the dales.
I am not certain on the best route, and I am of the opinion that straight up the A1 is the quickest but we all know that's not why we drive ridiculously cool cars now is it? so I suggest the route that the AA have kindly provided me with:
thus
this route involves some motorway for the high speed runs where you can all laugh as I struggle to get past 125mph, and lots of fantastic twisties where I can overtake you all, stop to enjoy the beautiful yorkshire scenery and consume a sherbert Dib-Dab, and wait for you all to puff and pant your hedge-seeking missiles up the dales to catch me up
so, suggestion/comments please. (on the route, to any wags hoping to capitalise )
Now then.
Food!
I would be in favour of War8en doing the curry with nachos thing on the Friday as it sounds f*cking wicked. naturally i'm open to other suggestions
I vote that for the saturday and sunday mornings we all contribute the usual hash browns/eggs/mushrooms/bacon/barmcakes/etc for the fryups, i'm happy to volunteer to do the breakfasts as I regard myself in my arrogant but endearing way as pretty bloody awesome at them...as long as I have a caffeine drip and nobody gets in the way
so, it leaves just saturday night to argue about....over to the floor!
lots of love, Tom

Taking the A1 might be a bit of a detour from Manchester. How about meeting at a similar place but taking M66,M65 straight up towards Skipton then a couple of nice B broads to the barn.

go here and put in SK9 7LA then the postcode of the barn (DL8 something) and it brings up the route I alluded to in my original post ie the one you suggested

I hate the A1 so I would probably get off on the A6265 at Weatherby towards Ripon and the A6108 though Masham to Leyburn and pick up the A684 there to continue the route you posted. It is only about a mile shorter and will take slightly more time but nicer roads. If I don't have to pick up Michelle in Bradford and I go up the M42/M1 from Birmingham I will probably do the route above.

I am supposedly meeting minimax somewhere for a 10.00-10.30'ish departure to get settled into the pub for a bit of lunch and to start drinking.
if you're coming from belper you'd praps be best to head over the tops and meet me in alderley matey - it's only 50 miles according to aa routeplanner along the A6 to buxton then the A537 to macclesfield. alderley is 5 minutes from macc
....tom of tvr fame and andy of maserati fame along with AnnaS are meeting us along the way (I believe???) plus anna may be bringing her BF's ferrari? is that correct anna?

ive not decided what im doing yet.
if i have to pop and get the capri (as apposed to scamming a lift) ill be coming from york
so may meet you at some place in the dales, and that would be easier than coming back on myself accross the M62.
