I'll try and make another, but I'll park in the correct car park this time, and not turn up 1 1/2 hours early!

So you're the owner of the Veranti eh?

Never seen one prior to the meeting, whats the specifics of it??

Yep, that would be me! Its basically a similar concept to the F355 replicas that you see around, except its not trying to be anything. But Its a re-bodied MR2 thats had the roof chopped off. Mine is just N/A 2.0litre, but with a few tweaks to make it go and sound a little better. Its based on an import so its got all the options on as standard like air-con and power steering, better diff etc.

One of the best things is the insurance, as an import MR2 they wanted £1,800, but as a Veranti £520 (by the way, I am only 23 so thats better than the insurance ona fiesta).

One of the best things about it is that as far as I know, only 16 were ever built (still need to confirm that) so it makes it rarer than even Ferrari FXX.

You're more than welcome to have a good poke around it at the next meet.

I had a feeling it was based on an MR2, but wasnt too sure!!

Its a handsome looking machine for sure, completely different and lots more class over the MR2-355 varients

If you dont mind me asking, how much did it set you back??

I hate it when people ask me that! Ive jokingly said it costs £25,00 before to compete with an elise and they believed me. But I actually picked it up second hand after a lot (and I mean a lot) of haggling for £7. Not bad considering the 355 replicas (which I agree with your comments on those) go for anything between £12-18K.

The one I bought has been Factory built, and set the first owner back about £15K, and that was before it had the Stainless Mongoose sports exhaust system, which really does sound lovely. Not boy racer-ish, I dont like that sound.

You considering a buy? You'll have search for another one though, because it will be a long time until you can prize mine away from me. I'm considering doing the creama leather interior in it as they do on the 355 replicas, but thats for when I have saved some pennies again.

My apologies for asking what is probably the most obvious question based around ignorance to the marque

Im not looking at buying, I just like to accumulate knowledge about things and having never seen a Veranti before and now knowing the exact base, it was my next logical step to wonder how much it all costs as I know some of the rebody jobs out there can cost silly money, the F355 replicas being a perfect example of this.

I must admit, I do have a bit of a hankering for an MR2 at the moment, but funds wont allow it and Im uncertain as to whether I would be able to squeeze into the pilots seat

I'll have to have a listen at the meeting to see what you mean about the exhaust note...unless you have video footage handy
