Bad luck Satch. At least when the Tuscan was bumped just before Xmas I was left a note by a driver with a concience.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Gutted when i got your text this morning mate.

Has it gone through the clam? Any thoughts on who was parked in front of you? That in the white van perhaps?

Give me a bell later.

£2,800 + VAT = £3290

i didnt know they came pre painted, looking at £500+ for a DECENT bodyshop to paint it (dont forget it would need blowing into the bonnet, skirt bit and doors) so thats £3790+, then a couple of hundred for removing yours, and re-fitting a new one, and aligining the 'bonnet' and as i assumed it would be an unpainted painted bare clam, there would be the purchasing and fitting of the V and mesh.. so i dont think i was that far off with a guess saying nearing 5k..

a decent fibreglasser would be able to repair yours anyway. id only be pushing for a new clam if it was coming off someone elses insurance.

Bad news Mike. Presumably you are waiting for Nidd Vale to have a look at it?
If its a new Clam then I guess you'll have to put an insurance claim in. Shop around next time its due and you'll probably not have too much of a premium hike.

Any idea who did it or when it was done? Might be worth knocking on a few doors to see if there was any witnesses as it might have made a bit of a noise.

crap news mate sorry ,
who told you a new front clam was £2500?
i think its more like £800,they dont come pre painted
so it would be plus spray, also they are a doddle to take off
take an hour tops, the rear would take alot longer.

the real irony is that up until recently it was parked off road until the bird in the ground floor flat decided because she has a toddler she needs both parking spaces - changed her mind about letting me use the parking space.

Walking a child a little bit further to a car is hardly a good enough excuse to have to park anything nice on the road.

I'm a paranoid person when it comes to parking, I always look at cars I'm parking next to for the state of them and any scuff marks on the edges of their doors to see if they've been opened up onto walls or other cars, or dents on the front or back to see any careless parking. And I'll usually park at the far end of a car park if its quieter down there.

Hope you manage to get it sorted, sounds deffinatly like an insurance job though. But keep an eye out for anything with a Tow bar matching the colour of your car parking near.

Yikes...!

Amazing costs involved, I'm surprised the insurance quotes I've had are so cheap when such simple damage can amount to so much!

Hope it works out getting it fixed!

Satch,

Try an independant to see what they charge.

Obviously there will be plenty around but the only decent one that I have used before was MotoCraft at Pudsey (Leeds LS28). Tel 0113 2562777, speak to Clive or John. They worked on my TVR before & have a contract with JCT Brooklands to do works on thier Ferrari's, Lotus's (Loti ?) & Masertati's, so you can be confident the work will be carried out to an extremeley high standard.

Plus, they don't charge dealers hourly rates which is always a bonus.

Sorry to hear it Mike - know how you feel at the minute as someone put a big ding in the door of the Scoob a couple of days ago too. It's so annoying as we're almost sure who it is as the dent is too high for it to be anything other than the big Mitsybushy that parks in the same car park. Fortunately it's not taken the paint off so the dent may pull out without too much trouble.
