Your last chance of a run out before the turkey and mulled wine leave you too lethargic to do anything. You should have your shopping done by then as the shops will be rammed.

Meet at Black horse pub in wigginton at 1.30
Wigginton is just off the north York Ringroad, meet in the car park behind.

Details can be given at the time or emailed before hand, but the route is basically:

Up to ********, across to via ******* (or A*** via ****** if the weather is good and we want to)to Scarborough. Stop at the front (at the car park next to the lifeboat shed or further along on the sea wall if its closed), possibly have fish and chips and a bit of banter (if its not too cold). Blast the bay, then back up towards Malton on a selection of good roads.

Pace wont be blistering or too slow. We have a couple of cars going for certain, thought id post it and see if anyone wants to join us. Open to suggestions for changes to the plan (maybe go earlier if theres going to be fog)

Edited to remove names. But it is about a 70 mile hoon, not going too far out of the way.

Tom,

Is it a good idea to publisise details (albeit vague) of your intended route on a public forum?

Might pop along in the Mas. Sorta depends on how bad the Saturday morning hangover is, last day of work and all that.

Hotwheels.

P.Heads Christmas rule No1 must be invoked yes

1) All cars attending festive runs must be suitably decorated xmas

I'll see if I can make it ... just a thought ... won't the York Ring Road by Clifton Moor be absolutely grid locked as it is the last but one shopping day? Sometimes we have met at the Travel Inn / Holiday Express wotsit just off the A64 which avoids the retail park traffic. Bob the Planner or Gemini will probably be able to advise better

I'm working, if you meet up at Clifton Moor do me a favour and give Mercedes a flypast down Clifton Moorgate, it'll make me feel a bit better about being here!

Yep, Clifton Moor will be absolutely heaving. The Holiday Inn is the one on Malton Road (Hopgrove ?) however getting there will be a pretty aweful as people will be heading into Clifton Moor. Once past the A64 it could be better than the jams around Clifton Moor though. I think anywhere around the York Ring Road will be pretty jammed up and I would think about meeting somewhere like Stamford Bridge and then head onto the smaller roads. This would mean that those not from the York area don't have to get delayed by the numties doing last minute Xmas shopping. I'm sure Tom has thought about what he is doing and has planned a quick route out which will have no traffic.

I will not be able to make it as I will be in Leamington looking at a couple of places to rent on Saturday morning and closer to Birmingham in the afternoon.

mmmmmmmmmm fish and chips on the prom at scarborough sold it for me. If the weather holds up and I can get the kids into the car we will be there. Will look out for further info on meeting points etc.

Grass Widow will be in the new Freelander with the dog in the back as the back up vehicle, lol.

ID suggest the Thompsons fish and chip shop on the A64 just North of York if going A64 out toward Malton

If going East then try somewhere on the Brid road

If you're coming down the Pickering to Scarborough road at all try Silks chip shop in Crossgates, its won best chip shop in scarborough twice.

Cheers for the input guys.

Changed the meeting point to Wigginton to avoid getting stuck in the shopping traffic, from there we can head straight out into the countryside. I have also revised the route a little bit to make it better but still vaguely the same.

my number is: zero seven seven five two two nine four four nine seven if anyone has any problems.

To be honest this fog we have at the moment could scupper the plan, but heres hoping.

ah ... have just been appointed Gabby-sitting duties all day Saturday ... which, seeing as cleaning the whole house after the builders have finished was the other option I reckon I've pulled the better straw!
