Have had dinner there, but never stayed. Nice food but a bit poncy. Watched a chap demolish afternoon tea, which look jolly impressive.

I was under the impression that the Royal York was at least 4*, and has the advantage of being in the dead cenre of town.

royal york or le merideien..whatever it is now.

Is not great service...not met anyone who's been impressed with it.

I also recommend Middlethorpe Hall, you'll not find better it in York.
