Any recommendations for servicing places for the Rover engined TVRs (Griff) in Yorkshire please? (or central Manchester).

I know Harrogate but that is too much of a hassle to get to. If I do go back to a Griff then I need to know I can get it serviced by people who know what they are doing.

So who do all the Yorkshire Griff and Chim owners use?

I guess a Rover V8 wizard would be better than say an average overall TVR specialist but i could be wrong... opinions?

I kow there's a place called SSC in Boroughbridge that gets good reviews, but is he a later TVR engined specialist?

thanks,
al

I decided that the @rse on the 911 was just too small Si... people just didn't seem to see it! hehe

Seriously though, the 911 is a superb car but I really miss the open top. At the mo' it is a real head v heart. I know the 911 is rock solid, it goes like a train, it handles like it is on rails and everyone seems to love it to bits. Also, everything is sorted.

But the Griff, for me, is ultimately more fun. I am just worried about buying one and then having to start getting that one sorted. Hence, not having a local tried and trusted TVR specialist to hand could be a pain in the backside.

Does anyone have a website for either of the Boro'bridge places and... if they are not connected, how come there is TWO TVR places in a tiny town like that?!!! Is one of them something to do with TVR Mads?

Cheers!

I've had new tyres, rear discs / pads / brake fluid, since the last time we met Al.
Oh and a police record, (not message in a bottle) ask Stu,
I'll point snorky at this thread, he has a Chim lives in our area and knows most of the TVR places within a good radius.Think he used a place in BLACKPOOL last service and they collected and delivered for next to nothing.
I'll ring him now and get him to post.

If I remember right (I'm sure Rich will correct me here).
TJ Motors used to do the servicing for SSSC.
When HHC changed hands one of the guys from the workshop (old hand rather than spotty apprentice) went to SSSC and they started their own servicing.

I'm probably completely off track but that was the story I was told a while back and when I had been up at SSSC in the past they didn't seem to have any servicing.

I saw the reference to Blackpool collection/delivery service on a previous thread thanks Simon.

What does SSSC stand for? I've not heard of them before.

The ones round here I've heard of are SSC ( Sports and specialist Cars ?) and TJ Motors further out there's RT Racing in Sheffield - but from Manchester I would go to Automedon where my Chim went - superb service and very friendly guys ( plus you get free mugs and blackpool rock ) 10% off your first service too.

SSSC are indeed a good outfit. Went over there on a couple of occasions with a friend who ended up buying a Griff 500 from them.

Funnily at the time they were saying that they intended staying clear on the newer cars, but as you mention they now seem to be trading in them.

They told me the same but I think since they got the guy from HHC they now have somebody who has the expertise to deal with the newer stuff. He doesn't seem to be good at returning phone calls though or maybe it was just me confused

That'll be TorqueRVT in Middlewich. I had the same problem finding someone local(ish) so plumped for them as they come highly recommended on here...

Serviced the Chim last month & its running superb. It's back there at the mo having the bushes done, picking it up tomorrow.

Maybe a bit far out for you Al. There's somewhere in Stockport that services TVRs too which may be worth a look.....

Correct. No other connection between the two companies.

SSSC now have a workshop about 3 miles East of Boroughbridge, just off the B6265. Been up and running for around 6 months or so.

Yeah, too long. Keep meaning to drag myself on one of the early morning runs but bloody work over the past year has been manic!!

Love the look of the Porsche, if I wanted a hard top I might have been interested.

At the moment I'm thinking of ways to make the Chim sound something like that Ferrari you had....
