Now does Super Unleaded.

its 92.p a litre (1p a litre dearer than Shell V-Power at Willerby)

Not sure if its any good - i popped in there last night and noticed they were doing it - guy behind the counter doesnt even know the difference.

I dont have any more info other than they started doing it 4 days ago.

Dont think its worth paying the extra penny a litre for tbh, just go to Willerby.

Tesco on Beverley Road do it for 87.9p a litre - might give it a go in the old Ti and see how it does over normal unleaded / V-Power.

V-Power is a shed load better than normal unleaded ... but Tesco's 99 Ron is the one to use if you can yes

Unfortunately, the nearest Tesco fuel station to me is over 20 miles away at York or Hull, so not really worth the trip when I have V-Power on the doorstep.

Not the Tesco's 99 Ron it doesn't. Higher octane than V-Power.

I use V power when I can but its a 35 mile round trip to the nearest garage. As an alternative the Tesco 99ron is pretty good and as most supermarket fuel these days comes from the big oil companies and is just as regulated as others I don't see what the problem is.Other than the obvious additives issue which keeps the engine nice and clean!! However, I'm happy to be corrected

independant test by a cosworth tuner suggested V-Power (optimax at the time) to be better than Tesco's 99Ron fuel, for stopping knock and detonation, and allowed a wider ignition curve.

No doubt its better but the Tesco 99 isn't bad as an interim measure. I still will use V Power by choice when I can get it so I guess we agree!!

that's right coz it's impossible that the same local refinery made and supplied them both and just added the shell detergent to the VPower on delivery isn't it ........???? <oil refiner mode off>

Fact is the fuel has always come from the big oil companies, believe it or not tesco's don't have a group of hobbits round the back refining crude lol!

I think the local one to here is Immingham from memory, and quite often you see tesco lorries filling shell stations, bp lorries filling tesco and so on.

I thought V power/Optimax came from a single Chesire refinery, but the rest if anything from anywhere.

It's all refined at the same place, just the packs they add vary.

Imagine a refinery having a special tank for all the fuels they have now. Supply and demand variables, along with storage would just be unviable... Probably just 95/97 and diesel, with those refineries who mix in biofuel doing that to their 97 range I'd expect... Then just octane boost/add detergents etc where you want, stick a "name badge" on it, and sell it for loads more!

I work at said Immingham refinery.......so - what Mr Whippy said.....knock and det change according to lots of things like - state of the tanks at said station ( water in the bottom etc and how long it's been in there etc VOCs ( volatile Organic compounds ) don't stay in gasoline for long....BUT ITS ALL THE SAME SHITE....even the detergents that are in Vpower et al are only made by about 3 manufacturers worldwide.....

we sell for approx 23p a litre delivered and believe me shell do not transport from cheshire to southampton or scotland on that kind of margin...it comes from the nearest Refinery with reciprocal agreements....believe what you like ( and I know you will ) but it's all the same stuff apart from RON and detergent additives.

VPower is probably better than normal unleaded due to the additives but the petrol component is no different - you are only fooling yourself if you think otherwise.

Please come to our Refinery and I'll point out the seperate tanks for Texaco, Shell, Total, Petroplus, BP, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Tescos, ASDAs....it'll be easy there only two, 95 and 98...

sorry I started to rant there......and breathe.

someone takes their job far too seriously LOL

either way, no matter how you put it, if the fuels the same and its additives that are different (am i correct?) then V-Power is still better for me
