After my apparent electrical gremlin yesterday I rang Dave at Strasse in Leeds this morning to ask his thoughts. After finding out what happened he promptly said, I'll talk to you in an hour, I need to come out that way this morning, well see if we can get it sorted.

When I get around to ringing him later in the afternoon I find that my car has been whisked from home in Goole back to the workshop in Leeds, where a siezed fuel pump was identified pretty sharpish as the culprit and a new one ordered.

Now that, is service yes

Thanks guys

As a matter of interest, how much did such sterling service cost, Al?

No idea yet Michael. At a rough guess, £130 ish + VAT for the pump plus labour. They may bung a bit of diesel on or they may, not depending how close he was going to my house anyway.

Why, what are you thinking? You haven't acquired a Porsche or a Ferrari that needs servicing have you?

Goodness me, Al... don't be ridiculous!
It wouldnt matter what I'd acquired, you know damned well that the only spanners to grace its nuts would be wielded by me!
And its difficult to acquire any more just at the moment. Space is at a premium and its embarassing enough explaining 8 cars to people.....
I'm just pondering on the going rate for decent service. Offering specialist service and maintenance of the more 'interesting' cars is one of the many things I'm considering.

Strasse picked car up on Monday am, sorted by Monday pm ... I thought asking them to drop it off back to Goole might be a bit cheeky though so I left it with 'em until Saturday
