Guy's, a bit of help needed.

I had a new clutch fitted in the Tuscan in May this year at a TVR main dealer. I did 2800 miles and had gear selection problems so back to the dealer.

Turns out the clutch needed to be replaced.

So clutch replaced, and £700 out of pocket, the garage is making a claim to TVR engineering for the faulty part.

Thing is though, the claim will only be approx £500 as TVR will only pay for the faulty part and 'warrantee' labour rates?

Basically this will leave me £200 out of pocket due a faulty clutch being fitted to the car.

Sound familar or am I being ripped off? It's been suggested by the garage to send a letter to Dave Oxley at TVR to complain?

Cheers for any help/advise in advance

Rich

so are TVR saying that the parts and labour for a Tuscan clutch are £500....bargain! Surely if it is done under waranty at a dealer then TVR give them the parts for free and the dealer pays the labour and claims off the warantee company ???

No - approx £700, I had an engine mount and a few other bits done - came to £900

The thing I don't understand is this:-

1.Paid for supply and fit of new clutch, clutch cylinder in May
2.Drove the car until Sep, covered 2800 miles
3.Car wouldn't go into gear properly
4.Investigated by the dealer
5.Clutch springs broken - hence problem
6.Paid approx £700 so I could drive the car?

I 'may' get up to £500 back of this £700 for faulty parts and a reduced labour rate from the warrantee company.

Actually - the more I think about this, the more it sounds like complete crap.

I'm getting back onto the dealer!

I've only just read this thread but as far as I understood the Consumer Protection Act, or whatever it is called, your contract is with the dealership not with the factory. If the parts are faulty the dealership should make good the repair irrespective of what the factory is saying. The dealership should give you cash, if they decide to claim off the factory surely that is up to them.

Of course, I could be completely wrong!

Give trading standards a call. They will, on presentation of the full facts be able to give you a very informed answer pretty quickly... They may however wish to investigate further so be aware that this will push you into the spot light with the dealership it you persue it.

True - I got back onto the garage last week, and I should be getting a refund by the end of next week.

Happy that I'm getting some cash back but still, a very odd way to go about it!

Cheers for the help fellas thumbup
