I'm off to York for a day out on Saturday and need somewhere to lunch. Nothing too pricey but not crap either. Any recommendations?

Just keeping my fingers crossed for sun now!

For what you need Cafe Concerto on High Petergate will do the job nicely. The staff are friendly and the food is very god.

I'm up for a bit of a trot this weekend. The plan is go go exploring and get out of Sheffield for a bit, but judging by the weather it'll probably end up as a shopping and munching trip.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Also, do any of you know of somewhere where I can get a present for a bridesmaid (she's 24)? I'm looking for something a bit different and maybe house related seeing as she's just bought a place. I expect I'll stumble across somewhere but forwarned if forearmed and all that

there's a brilliant furniture/housey/arty tat store adjacent to the slug & lettuce bar...can't for the life of me remember the name but it has loads of interesting bits & pieces and things like sofas, paintings, decorations, hand made cards, ornamental thingies...

Great pizza express too at the end of Lendal by the bridge. Overlooks the river (not surprisingly!)
