New Le Mans 2006 thread
Discussion
The old one was getting a bit cluttered so I am starting a new one:
Here's a news update:
1. Have spoken to Bob and the big-stuff order is in, so we are getting Gazebo, cooking stuff, table, chairs and fridge brought down for us in the truck. I will let you know of the price later
2. I will start route-planning later, but I am only planning for a handful of cars (those coming on the Wednesday ferry). As we are getting on an afternoon ferry I figured we would take a direct, fast route to Le Mans once we are on the other side.
3. Finally, unfortunately, I am debating myself as to whether I am going to be able to make it - I'll keep you posted, but here is the reason why: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=271947&f=152&h=0

Nope. t'other car is bust as well (waiting for information back on a dodgy suspension arm, could be a difficult part to get hold of). Am looking at options for consolidating cars among the group at the mo (i.e. See if we can re-jig Alistair, my dad, me, arran and andy)
Quite frankly though, I am not entirely sure that I can afford to (in order of priority):
1. pay for a wedding
2. pay for a honeymoon, and
3. Buy a house
4. pay for an engine rebuild
5. go to Le Mans
6. buy food

It's bad enough news about your car - don't compound it by missing LM as well. Where there's a will there's a way.
You're welcome to a lift with me if you can get your gear and my tent (which is too big to fit in my boot and destined for the passenger footwell) transported there and back.

Just read your last post. If no-one's got a car I'll get 4 squashed passengers with me in Saab, or 3 in comfort. We're on Tuesday ferry.
You're right. The problem is that even if I do get the car back (which, is looking likely: see the "Jinxed" thread), then I need to pay for it. Being a contracting scumbag if I take a week off work, that's one weeks less pay + the expense of a holiday - double whammy. I have budgeted for an awful lot over the coming months, and as a result straws and camel's backs spring to mind.
Having said that - I firmly believe in the "everything always turns out ok in the end" principle. So, knowing me, I'll just go and be damned with the expense (hmmm... sounds remarkably like my mindset when I bought the bl**dy thing in the first place).

So how are you getting there?
Probably take the Tuscan - thanks for the kind offer Roger. I'll know more when I get the bill for the car next week, I'll try and pull all the loose ends together then and put a more concrete travelling plan on here for all involved in our trip.
p.s. My dad is on holiday this week, so he and Al are meant to be sorting themselves out next week, but I am now not sure if Andy is going to have his car ready in time, so there still may be a "lost soul":
Andy
Just got back from the rig and seen this thread. Read the first one and thought bollox but it sounds like it might be a happy ending.
Me... I'm taking the bike as the car won't be ready on time. I do need to email Bob though to see if he can possibly be so kind as to fit a couple of things in his supply wagon if I can drop them off. Pretty please!!!!
If you read this Bob I'll email you about it.

Welcome home Andy!
Good stuff. This means that Alistair and my Dad can combine forces and either take Al's Chim or my Dad's SEAC. I am currently trying to talk him out of bringing the 4x4

Mmmmm - Large supply wagon is leaving from Poole. I'm not sure yet what mode of transport I am using to get to the south coast but if there is room I can carry some stuff (already taking the Gazebo - Gordon have you got rough dimensions on packed size)
