Just bought a Chim 500. Got a problem with one of the hinges on the bonnet. It has come semi-loose from the fibre glass. The bonnet can be moved up and down half an inch or so when its shut. It should be ok for now, but it needs sorting.
Any ideas for a fix. Or where I can take it for a fix? I'm based in West Yorks.

You mean at the front of the bonnet??

If it's the same as the cerb then you can get a new hinge assembly. Basically it's a big fibreglass bracket with the hinge built in. You can then find a fibreglass man to cut off the old one and bond in the new one.

Ta for that. I am new to all of this, so any idea where I can get a new hinge from?

No idea. I had mine done when it was in for a respray at tvrbodyshop. Worth asking them if they sell them separate or where they get them from.

Or... stick a post up in the Chimaera forum, see if someone on there knows.

I had the same problem on my Chim. The cheap fix is to buy a fibreglass repair kit from Halfords, (fibreglass mat and resin) and re-enforce the area around the hinge. Its very easy to do. You need to take the bonnet off to do this, (also very easy).
I didn't actually use the Halfords stuff as my brother-in-law had some fibreglass mat spare, so the fix actually cost me £0!
A year later and the hinge was still solid.

Ta Snorky. Took your advice and called HHC this morning. Decided to purcahse a full set of repalcement hinges for both sides of the bonnet. Got a mate who can sort the fibreglass and fitting. I guess I will just keep the speed down until it's done.
