Well bad things do happen 3 at a time, don't they ?

1st. Last Sunday. Car was parked outside house when I suddenly hear the alarm going off. I zoom outside onlt to be told by a driver coming down toward my house that a car going the other way had 'caught' my car. Did he/she stop ? I suspect you know the answer to that. Seems they hit just above the drivers side rear wheel & taken a bit of paint/fibreglass away.

2nd. Today. Was on the first day of my DAS course (motorbike stuff), only to return back to the car to realise someone had taken a bit of a shine to the new stereo system I had recently installed. One drivers side window missing. Well well I say missing I mean all over the floor/interior/bonnet, scratching paintwork in the process.

What next ?

At least I didn't get knocked off the bike

Sorry to hear Mark. Fingers crossed that the third thing is something good. Good luck with the remainder of the test.

No reg. numbers unfortunately.

With regards to DAS, i'm doing it at LSM Leeds (round back of crown point retail park).

Went to Sherburn in Elmet with instructor yesterday, and must admit that doing 60mph on an unfaired bike gives a greater thrill than 150mph in the car

Can't wait.

Bad news on the car. There's are some nasty fks around.

Sounds like you are enjoying the bike though. Make sure they at least tell you a little about counter steering. My instructor forgot and I always wondered why I had problems turning over 30 mph. When I discovered CS it all fell together.

He was mentioning something about turning the bars left but the bike would go to the right ? I assume this is 'countersteering' ?

Said it would be something we would be doing next week (got another lesson Tuesday).

Best way to understand countersteering is to get a front wheel out of a mountain bike (with the spindle) and get someone to spin the wheel really fast whilst you hold both side of the spindle.

Then work out how to make it turn left & right on your own. It's a huge gyroscope and it's great to offer kids £10 if they can do it first time, especially the big strong/bog hard types who try to use BF&I to make it turn, the more they push, the worse it gets.

You have to apply the force 90 degrees before the direction you wish it to move (it's known as phase lag). See, I learned something in my Engineering days.

Next week, how to shoot a frozen chicken into Scunthorpe town centre from Brough (Nr. Hull)
