Any bikers/scooterists?
Discussion
I'll be picking up a Honda scooter from Craig's at Shipley soon but not got a lid or gloves yet. I'm Liversedge area. Anywhere in the vicinity where I can try on and buy a basic lid for a reasonable price that meets the requirements? Also want to try on some gloves to ensure a good fit rather than buy online.
I won't be using it that much as I have access to another car, just for getting about on when the missus is away on work.
Thanks.

also handy that J&S is next door so you have some options.
my instructor gave me some advice when i first started.
If you're on a budget, spend your money on gloves, boots and a safe helmet as you're more like to take a low speed tumble while maneuvering.
helmet doesn't need to be expensive to be safe - https://sharp.dft.gov.uk/

The supply chain issues are real! What a nightmare trying to get the stuff you want. Nobody has got any stock and they have no idea when they'll have it. I had a shortlist of around 15 helmets but I may as well have not bothered as only 2 of them were in stock, 1 was the wrong size and other was the wrong shape for my head.
I was up in Leeds on a dental appointment via Sheepscar so called in at SBS and J&S. J&S had nothing in the sizes and price ranges I wanted and the staff couldn't have looked more disinterested if they'd tried. SBS next door was better and after making some enquiries with one of the staff, he gave me advice on the helmets and saved me from making a grave error buying one which I thought fitted me great, but actually it was too 'rounded' for my narrow shaped head and was also too low on my forehead which meant that leaning forward on the bike meant I couldn't see sh.t.
Ended up with an Icon Airform which fits great. Gloves were another battle as the prices are only listed on the tags rather than the rack, so you see some you like, then dig out the tag and find out they are £200 rather than £50 max you want to pay. And again, even when you do find some in budget, they only have 2 or 3 sizes available which of course are never the ones that fit you. Plunked for RSTs of some flavour in the end.
