Last night around 7.00pm, convoy going into Halifax. Several Police motorbike outriders ahead of a convoy headed by a black Discovery 5 with blues on, followed by another 4 Ranger Rovers ad more Police bikes. It was the kind of convoy a member of the Royal Family or Prime Minister would get

I was wondering if they were going to the station to pick Boris up and take him to Manchester for the Tory conference.

Anyone got any sensible ideas of what was going on and who was VIP enough to be riding with this convoy? We don't usually get such excitement in Halifax.

Boris was at Leeds General Infirmary during the day so maybe they were looking for fuel to get them back.

Could well have been Boris' convoy then. Not far from Leeds of course though it was heading in Leeds direction rather than away.

Boris’ motorcade sounds small fry compared to POTUS. Trump’s motorcade passed us on the M25 a few years back. I think we counted 45 vehicles in total! A mix of vehicles he’d clearly brought with him, UK police cars/bikes and a whole gang of black BMW X5’s.

Also some wrong ‘un regularly travelling down the M1 through South Yorkshire recently. I’ve seen 4x bikes and 2x police cars escorting a prison van almost every morning for the past week.

A bit late to the party, but I live in Sowerby Bridge, Boris came through here as part of the motorway was shut so came off and rejoined at Rishworth

Thanks for that. We live in Sowerby too. Not sure why they would be taking that route. We were at the Salterhebble Shell facing up towards the dual carriageway. The motorcade came down from Ainley top but went past us heading in towards Halifax. They could have gone through Copley and SB to Rishworth. Of course, there could be all sorts of reasons they were taking the route they did.

Thanks for the info though!

Without giving too much away

There are public visits and there are "private" visits often on the same day by Principals

Also every venue will have a pre determined plan as to which side the "drop off" is and the route planning will take the drop off into account - mot done really to be doing a u turn to get your drop off on the right side
