Combined Yorkshire Concours as a tag on to a monthly meeting held in a dusty pub carpark that struggles to hold enough cars for a normal meeting.

Is that really the best we can do.....

Sorry Rich. Very dissapointed, and if I do sound negative, its because I expected better - much better.

I know what you mean Rich, but even though I have been made to feel that non TVR cars are no longer welcome by some people, I think John has quite a good point... where are all the cars going to go? unless you cordon off the car park purely for TVR and only for those TVRs entering the concourse. Which might pee off a number of non car club customers.

The previous anual Yorkshire TVR concours have had a "Best Other Make" class and other marques were always welcomed.

And this one has too!!

Ill tell you my thoughts then we can all be sure why and when!

I wasnt (couldnt be arsed if truth be known) going to do a concourse this year

I had thought to do it at BNG again
but then it turned into a national do!

I am really excited that its gone National
but as we all know that means cars from the deep dark south and they are more anal than we are with regards to polishing inside their exhaust pipes

So with that in mind, not wanting to lose the trophies to the southern bally dancers
I listened to the Simpsons (no not the yellow little peole but Linda and John) who said keep it local (no not "local cars for local people"!)

I tried Sledmere but they didnt respond

The landlord of the White Swan said "Ill give you something for alomst nothing" (a fiver)

He's opening up the beer garden and cooking outside
I feel a little more atmosphere than usual?

My thoughts were ok - local - Yorkshire only
We can get on street parking if needs be and I hope needs be - please come along! The more the merrier

NON TVR is a must - JEEZ I want to win the trophy with "Incy" There is a trohy for each category inc non TVR

I envisage an evening where we have 70 cars - great weather and fun on a low key

I try to do the best by all of you but ok - Im only human
(flesh and blood, a man!)
When I get criticised I have to admit it hurts!
But I get over it
I learn
I try to adapt, change and give you what you want!

I know that the Stray is a non go!
You can graze your pig on it but vehicles are banned through a bye law!

I think it can work?

Let me know your thoughts PLEASE

Now I need

Well don't then. Lets wait till next year when there is more time to organise it.

It was not intended as criticism, more an observation.

My thoughts. Forget the concourse aspect of the evening. Put in hold till next year when it can be organised with a little more prestige. It was a big event in the Yorkshire calender that many enjoyed. It deserves better than the current proposal. (IMO)

If you've not got time to do it, or can't be arsed cos its not your thing - put it to the members maybe, or one of the other two ROs who maybe willing to organise it as it should be.

You asked for thoughts. Thats what they are.

Dont be offended, have the Barbeque and enjoy it.

Keep the barbie, forget the concourse, unless you have a trophy for the dirtiest as I think I have consistenly beaten all expectations in that category.

Al, don't be silly, half the cars that turn up aren't tvr. It's nice to have a little variety from seeing the same old stuff every week. Even the RO doesn't have a tvr anymore!!!

Rich,

Sounds fab as long as you promise to be no where near the cooking, slightly concerned about your deity based delusions of grandeur though... I know you are a man of many talents, or so you endlessly tell us, but weather control???! Did you not complete the module of "Managing Expectations"? for your burgeoning inspector career. Surely it will be the standard overcast and dull, followed by irritating drizzle with a few tantalising glimpses of burning hot sunshine and ending in a mosquito feeding frenzy...or have you been to Yorkshire BBQs which were different. Still should be room in the boot for the beast repellant, first aid kit and stomach powders for the salmonella chicken, schedules allowing you can probably count me in. I'll start scouring the loft for the souwester and galoshes!

I have Miles, on several previous occasions, but it was made known a while back that some members thought that car park space seemed to be being taken over a little too much by non-TVRs.

Hey, I'm not even allowed to join the drive out on BNG weekend!

That's not the point, or I would also point out that I pay the same road tax as all the others... anyway... let's not go there.

It's a pub car park. I wonder what would be said if regular patrons dared to park there.

Anyway, you just happen to be out for a drive and by sheer chance you stop for a break at the same pub as a meeting that's on. Nothing out the ordinary in that.

That's one of the things I like about the NYTVRCC, it has a bit of diversity and not exclusively TVR like another meet I went to once or twice. Suffice to say I haven't been back to that one cause it was too bleeding cold to stand around a car park in January looking at the same bunch of cars you see on any run out.

My car will be up for sale soon and hopefully I will still be allowed to come along. If not then I'll be dissappointed cause there's a good group of people there.
