Builder Recommendations North Leeds
Discussion
Can anyone recommend any good builders around Roundhay, Moortown, Chapel Allerton, Moortown in North Leeds please?
I have planning granted for a 2 storey side and single storey rear extension that I’m looking to have completed in the next 12 months.
It’s quite a big job and I’m ideally looking for someone with experience of similar because we’ll be living in the house for as long as possible whilst the work is being done. This means timing and adherence to the schedule is essential.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I would say have an architect oversee the tendering process and management of the works. Worth their weight in gold compared to being screwed over with cheap materials, unnecessary delays and short cuts.
I use David from CRL architects (Leeds) on a regular basis. Having said that I should declare he rents an office from me. However, he is old school, knows all the tricks and sits on top of any large builder to make sure things are done right. He has overseen many projects for me now and always bob on and reasonably priced to boot. Earlier this year I had a small £15k job done and decided to oversee it myself because it was so simple,,,,, big mistake and I do have a lot of property experience. Was delayed for months and really shoddy workmanship. If I posted pictures you would cry... I sorted it in the end but a huge waste of time and money to have things cleaned up and done properly. I still have a sink with two hot taps!
PS make sure any architect is RIBA qualified and properly experienced, e.g David at CRL.

Alastair McLean did exactly this extension on my house in Meanwood a while back. Project manager and general builder. Really nice job. I lived in the house, included a week with no heating no water no wall on open side and a microwave. (planned) I have planning granted for a 2 storey side and single storey rear extension that I’m looking to have completed in the next 12 months.
