Mike - next time you're in town & need petrol, it's worth going 5 mins up the darlo road to Great Smeaton - Jet garage there has higher octane u/l than optimax. Not much point if you're heading to HG, though.

Unless you decide a better route back is via
Scorton/CG/Leyburn/Masham/Ripon...

...and then you'd need some more.

The Shell garage in Northallerton usually has Optimax Mike. Its my "local" and I've never known it not to so you must have been unlucky.

Or they didnt like the look of you so pretended not to have any.
