Sunday June 5th, Jim Thomson Trophy Meeting

Anyone planning to go to this? I've not been to the Harewood event before and wondered what it was like for spectating

I was just talking to someone about this at lunch time. It's a good place for spectating as you can see most of the hill from the top.

Went last year. A very good day out. You can see most of the track from the top as somebody else said. Burgers are bit expensive though.

Do spectators go in their PJ's or is it sensible to go in the shopping car?

I guess I'm asking, 'is there anywhere to park?'

Yes. You can park down at the bottom of the course where you can keep an eye on your P&J. Very safe venue.

Anyone fancy going for a blast for an hour first?

There's a big parking field which is fairly flat. Have taken my lowered Tuscan in before without any problems.

Sounds good, I might be up for a run around the north part of Leeds/Otley/Pool/ wherever beforehand.

OK this looks like we should organise to play together before the event. I've checked the web site and can't find a start time. Does anyone know when the event starts?

I was thinking meet at Pool in the White Hart carpark at 10.00am sharp and go for a quick hoon round. Norwood edge - Sun Inn - Penny Pot Lane - A59 - Dangerous Corner - Bland Hill - Beckwithshaw - Leathley - Quick coffee/beer at the Hunters - Harewood.

Not sure but I think practice starts around 10am and the racing starts at midday.

I went last year with a crowd off PH. Same idea, hoon beforehand ending up there for the racing. Good fun but it was a bit chilly (british summer then!!). If I'm around I'll come out for a play.

Sorry Richard, I do agree but I just don't have enough time to do a southern event in one day. I just wish these National events would become more UK-central

Central to where? It's probably central to the UK population but it's hardly central to the UK. I assume this is this is Rockingham near Corby.

Well Harrogate is central!
I agree
But you cannot have two BNGs in one year
