I've not had an issue with them not going on machines, usually they have cones they use to clamp them down with, I have had issues where the cones they use haven't held the wheel dead straight and it's needed to be done a couple of times to get right.

The proper tool emulates the mounting splines of the hub so the wheel mounts properly and a while ago at least you could buy them to take in to the tyre fitter with you, but I must admit I've never bothered and I've always been happy.

I tend to use ATS in Driffield as they are local to me and sensible, but really anywhere should be able to do this, I'd suggest taking the wheels in off the car though you may find they are more likely to have a go with a wheel they can handle without having to jack an e-type up first. It's a habit I got in to years back with air cooled 911s not being able to find a tyre fitter that would listen to the instruction of not windy gunning ally wheel nuts on and off as it destroys them.

Have you tried Savoy? From memory your over Hull way?

It was Savoy in Howden, in the end Kieren found the cones he thought they no longer had, so all good..

In an ideal world you want a tool that holds the outside of the hub rather than the inside which the usual cones do. An old us spec "safety" octagonal spinner with the centre milled out works fairly well.

But as said I've never really bothered.
