Partner's daughter lives in Meltham near Huddersfield. She has a Mini Cooper (new one) and partner a BMW 135. They are aware of the car thefts in West Yorkshire so careful with keys and security etc.

They have a Boxer dog and they found some small stones on the doorstep yesterday when they came home around 7pm. They thought nothing of it until they found out that thieves are marking houses in this way before they steal the dog. The police are taking it seriously apparently.

West Yorkshire is second on the list of reported dog thefts in the country. First cars, now dogs. What's next?

Just a heads up for those of you with pets.

After going out through the day as normal, she's come home to find a stone on the doorstep 4 times now in 48 hours. Dog kept under lock and key now.

Maybe worth putting a few stones on your doorstep even if you don't have a dog, then sit and wait at the top of the stairs with a loaded shotgun..........

Or treat the stones as free ammo for a slingshot/catapult.

Neighbour saw the likely lads. Couple of yob types with hoodies up trying not to look conspicuous. I'll tell her to keep the stones upstairs ready......

Why mark houses with stones?
Sounds like where people used to spray paint your fence laugh

Never spray painted my fence, they just nicked that too.

The stone thing is thought to be because they live in a terrace and access to the back is along a shared right of way. They probably count the doors at the back then put a stone on the doorstep at the front so they know which house the dog is in. They're using the usual white Tranny van.
