... recently moved back to Leeds (after 20 years darn sarf)and fish out of water wrt best value for this sort of thing up here.

Need some reasonably wide rubber (235/40 Zr18 and 265/35 ZR18) for BMW 5 series and a fitter that won't scratch the rims to F$^& fitting them

P.S Recommendations of a reputed BMW indy in the region appreciated also.

Welcome back, I've been back here 3 years and have just about found my feet again.

Tyres; I got from www.mytyres.co.uk for my M3 and the Tuscan, on both occasions they were cheaper than any other source. Then I got the lovely guys at Moss Tyres in Wetherby to fit them, £10 per corner. I went to the after a recommendation from another PH member. Great service from a couple of guys who have been fitting tyres for years.

There is a good BMW indy in Rodley/Farsley, is that the right area for you? If it is I'll get the details for you.

Keep an eye on the Yorkshire forum, we are a sociable bunch, generally there are lots of days and evenings out you're welcome to join.

Thats a great help thanks, will check prices out with them.

...Jo, do you have a number/address for the indy in Farsley/Rodley as thats exactly the area I'm based.

(I keep seeing Emmerdale characters wandering around the Rodley Barge pub).

Oh and what is it with the speed cameras up here.

Indeed she does. Parks here Merc reg. C11ASE opposite.

A couple more emerdalers in Calverley.

The lovely ex emerdaler, Milandra Burrows (spelt right ?), lives next to the Manor Golf Course (TVR meeting place).

Tell me about it! I live in that area, they put the cameras up a year or so ago. Shortly before they put them up they had vans regularly on Rodley town street - 3 points thank you very much!

Luckily really they put those cameras on the ring road from Rodley to Owlcotes roundabout before I got the TVR. In the FTO I could get xxx (cough 60) mph before backing off, glad I never got the chance in the TVR it can be lethal up there, either with people overtaking on the downhill, or traffic backed up just over the brow!

Someone told me (she's Greek and didn't understand the speed camera thing) that she regularly drives through Rodley at 40 and the cameras never flash her - not risking my license to see if she's right or not, but I have seen them actively changing film in the scameras through Calverley.

Apparently when it was quiet you could get to 140+ quite comfortably in a Tuscan. Not sure how true that is though.

Yeah, I'd agree with that hypothesis.

Jo, what kind of tyres did you buy for the Tuscan? I'm looking at getting some Toyo's, but I can seem to find Z rated ones on Mytyres

I had Toyo Proxes on the Tuscan which are Z rated, just checked and they're still listed on MyTyres. Just had Mitchelin Pilot Sport put on the M3, the jury is still out on these tyres, will tell you more once I've had the geometry done properly.

T'would seem that Toyo Proxes T1-S are now listed as a W rated tyre on both mytyres and blackcircles.

Tonto, I've put in some a sizes I imagine would fit a Chimaera (245/45 R16, 225/20/ R16) and you're right MyTyres don't seem to have the Toyo's listed, although they still have them in other sizes. Anyway, have a look on www.blackcircles.com, they've got Toyo's and Bridgestone S03's.

Now if I knew your tyres sizes, you never know I may get 10 minutes free to have a look around for you. Tsk, working from home is so hard at times!

You can buy, and if you wish, have the tyres fitted at Unicar on Kirkstall Road. They def. sell Toyo's as they got me some. Very good prices as well. Quoted me cheaper than BlackCircles.

Also, Harrogate Horseless do have them (in stock I think). Only charged £5 per corner more than the best price I could find, so for convenience maybe that may be a way to go ?
