Harewood Hillclimb

Indeed - there was a lot of interesting stuff there. Next event 6/7 May with 7th being British Championship event meaning mega quick big banger single sweaters going for it which are always epic..

Setting off after breakfast and very much looking forward to it . How odd that one of the country's best hilllimbs gets such minimal interest .....
Not a happy weekend for me. I have mobility problems because of a back problem - temporary thank God - and I arrived at Harewood at 8-30 saturday to ensure I could park in hill top car park . Not possible , the man on the gate said,' they're setting up a car show today for tomorrow '. So I asked if I could just drive down to start line car park , as I have done many times. I was told that wasn't possible either and no reason was given why not . I wasn't giving up and eventually the helpful RACSMA clerk of course intervened and got clearance for start line.
Nobody - not a f***ing soul - was in the hillside car park when I left at 3.30pm- it was deserted and no stands had been erected- nothing . I emailed Tim Wilson of BARC that evening to ask what I could do to watch on sunday - no reply .It's now thursday ...
I am massively unimpressed , especially as Harewood is very special - first marshalled there in 70s , spectated at scores of events , done hillclimb school in my Seven etc etc .
I have also needed to ask both Donington and Oulton about access and both could not have been more helpful . Shame on you BARC .
ps 250 Lusso was indeed divine , and being driven with gusto. Gorgeous - one of my all time favourites

Drop an email to Motorsport and Autosport, a little public shaming might provoke a response, and importantly, action for future events.I am currently writing a book on motor sport, including profiling various events I am attending this season, warts and all . I will see if BARC manage to reply but it looks like I may have some more material to add on my so far glowing chapter on Harewood.
There was a disabled parking area by the way - about 100yards further from trackside viewing than I can walk.....
