Machining shop- Leeds
Discussion
Now then, I'm looking for a machining shop or just anyone who can help me enlarge 2 centre bore holes in a couple alloy wheels I've got. I bought them from someone who got the centre holes drilled out but after refurbing and having the tyres fitted, we realised the holes aren't even centered. (they were centreless wheels)
I've already filed out 2 of them but it's taking hours and blunting my tools. I also bought a tungsten carbide burr but it's a cheap POS and doesn't do anything.
This is the amount I need removing:
Any help appreciated.

Depending on overall wheel dimensions I might be able to bore them out on my mill, but you would need to take the tyres off. If size and concentricity are not critical, you could probably open them out with a decent hole saw, Starret or similar.
You would need to bolt something across the back of the hole to give a centre point for the pilot drill in the hole saw.

Maybe I'm a wuss but I'd not even consider making big holes in the middle of an originally solid wheel. No safety considerations? strength of the structure etc?
