When in Huddersfield, be sure to visit the Royal Armouries. In Leeds.

If the weather's good the sculpture park is nice for an outdoor walk. You'll literally drive past the entrance on the way in to Huddersfield.

Mrs Puggit's best friend lives in Huddersfield, we use the M40/M42toll/M6/M62 route to avoid the constant road works on the M1. This is Tomtom's suggestion.

There are some works on the M6 and M60, but they are no where near as long.

If you had kids, I'd strongly suggest the Splash Park, but it appears to be broken (council owned). There's a half pipe where you can ride inflatables. It's stomach churning hehe

Castle Hill.

The area is better at night, more action going on.

In Huddersfield

In Huddersfield

There was a cow that wouldn't yield

The reason why it wouldn't yield?

It didn't like its udders feeled...

Carding shed is a good shout, I live in Holmfirth it's worth a visit!

M25 then m1 is the best way, off at junction 33 (i think) and down through Lepton.

Not unless you want to go into Sheffield or Rotherham.

Further north would be a good idea.

Yeah not in a rush I'd come off at 35a, cross towards Manchester then take the A629 all the way up stopping off at Yummy Yorkshire for food, the carding shed and Holmfirth on the way.

Good shout with Yummy Yorkshire, they always have one or two odd flavours of ice cream going on! I've always used junction 37 though....

Unless you're Asian, you'll want to be in and out of Huddersfield (and all that side of W Yorks) as fast as possible. Not a desirable area except for the rural outskirts.

Royal Armouries in Leeds is a waste of money too.

If the Jeep is brand new it'll be cheaper to get it delivered by the dealer. For that kind of distance expect about £100 which is far less than your combined fuel costs and time will be.

Thank you gentlemen for all your replies.

All in all it was a fabulous experience.

The small village of Lepton has more then ten speed cameras on view as you approach and go through it.

Bradley Mills Lane, on the way down the hill towards the John Smith Stadium, is about 1 and 3 quartes car wide, with a sheer drop down one side, with a mesh wire fence protecting you from a drop onto industrial unit concrete car parks.

The B and Q smelt of bacon rolls.

It took from 5:40 am till 10 am to get there.
And from 2pm til 830 pm to get home.

I did spot some sneaky speed camers on the gantry upright on the opposing carriageway on the M1
Sneaky looking flat trapeziod shaped european looking bits of kit.
Im going to upgrade my angel eye software for whn Im out in the Porsche.

Like this.....

Didn't do anything else, boring eh?

Good old Wakefield Rd! About 300 speed cameras and a speed limit that changes every 300 feet!

I don't think anyone's actually fallen off Bradley Mills Rd yet!

Surprised you're unaware of HADECS3 cameras, there have been a few threads about them. First deployed on the M25 and local papers down there reported 800 tickets in the first morning after going live.

It's believed they CAN be live all the time, not only when the variable limit is below 70.

You passed many of them on the M1.

One near junction 27 has been seen flashing when the limit was not below 70.
