Any Z4 Coupe Owners - Advice Please
Discussion
Hi All,
I am looking to buy a circa 2007 BMW Z4 Coupe, however there are not many/if any that are for sale around the Leeds area that I could have a look at.
My idea was to ask if any of you friendly PH Members own a z4 coupe that I could meet and have a look at to see if its the right car for me. It would be ideal before driving quite a long way to view cars for sale but also to speak with someone about their experience with the car and see how they find it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

Good advice. You'll find plenty of help and knowledge on there.
I had one for about 4 years. Great cars but watch out for broken springs, noisy wheel bearings and noisy diff. Over the time I had mine I had 2 broken springs, 2 wheel bearings and 1 diff. Well the knackered diff is the reason I sold it actually. I couldnt justify nearly £2k on a car only worth about £9k at the time.
Yeh i'd of given you the Z4 forum link. I've been on it loads since thinking of buying a Z and been on a run with a few of the yorkshire lot. They a great bunch of people and happy to help people out. Might be worth trying to find out when they next do a Yorkshire meet (they tend to be quite frequent) and go have a look at lots of different examples of coupes.
I'm pretty sure the diffs are the same in most BMWs of this vintage, but my Z4 one was noticably noisy when I bought it, and is still noticably noisy now... so was every other Z4 I have been in (four others) from 20k miles to 100k miles, and mine is on 120k miles now nearly.
I think it's just that you're sat almost over the rear diff in a small cabin they're pretty noisy.
£2k to fix sounds painful though. Was that fitted and reconditioned exchange with a decent warranty?
Good old BMW with their 'lifetime' oil fills! Idiots.

Good luck with the search!
In the end I gave up on lots of things I wanted, and just went for a nice car.
BMW being such arses with specification/options even on the 'top' models, means to find the perfect combo is like finding a needle in a haystack.
Even on the 3.0i at the time there were another £5k of options, sports seats, sat nav, upgraded hifi, xenon headlights, heated seats, dimming mirrors, wind deflector.
Hopefully you'll find the spec you want relatively locally
