Okay, I'm ready to be flamed by all the cyclists on PH, but seriously, wtf? Who decided that this was a good idea? confused

Stanningley bypass. I rest my case. Try fitting two decent sized vehicles side by side on the DC (either direction) now the dedicated cycle lane (and associated kerb) have eaten into the carriageway. Bus or wagon there and fancy passing in the other lane? Forget it!

Which audit/ committee market tested and found that X'000 cycle journeys would be made as a result of this white elephant?

Really struggling with this one as I cannot see any benefits other than to a (tiny) minority who may use it (or not, see practically every other cycle lane in existence).

[/endrant]

Meds time.

It's a load of bks isn't it, since they stopped putting in those ridiculous 2+ occupancy lanes they have to spend your money on something, how about some decent roads!!!!!!!

Agreed! I usually join from Pickering Street off Canal Rd and wondered WTF was going on. Saw the rest of it when I was up at my mate's house yesterday. In the 32 years I've lived in Leeds I can't ever recall having seen a cyclist on Stanningley bypass nor Armley Rd. Complete waste of time and money.
