I was thinking I might pop along to this and see what all the fuss was about. The previous one was while I was away.

Not too far from me, just up the road.

September 18th and 19th events preview

An action packed weekend of motorsport for the final events of the season

The two events at Harewood Speed Hillclimb on Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th September conclude the season at the UK’s longest permanent hillclimb. Each event has attracted a full entry of 150 drivers. The competitive action is scheduled to start at around 12.30 on each day, following practice in the morning.

Saturday is the Greenwood Cup meeting which has around 40 Ferraris and Porches competing, along with over 80 other road going cars. In addition over 30 single seater race cars will be battling for the honours. Saturday is the eighth round of the Mallory Park race circuit sponsored Harewood Championship, which has over 70 drivers entered.

On Sunday we have the Mike Wilson Memorial meeting. This is the ninth and deciding round of the Mallory Park sponsored championship. Nearly 40 MGs and Ginettas will be competing, along with over 40 single seater race cars and 70 road going saloons and sports cars.

In the Harewood Championship, Bob Bellerby from Harrogate leads in his Peugeot engined Sylva Striker sports car from Middlesbrough driver Simon Bainbridge in the awesome 600 bhp Audi Coupe. Third place is currently in the hands of last year’s champions Mike Geen of Harrogate in his Peugeot 205, whilst Dale Cordingley from Menston is in fourth with his Caterham 7. The top five is concluded with Leicester policeman Steve Davies in his Formula Ford Swift.

The ladies championship is between three times winner Clare Sullivan from Warton in Lancashire in her Mini and Menston girl, Sarah Cordingley in her Caterham 7.

Both days promise seriously competitive driving to secure class and championship places.

This sounds like fun, should get there if it isn't raining.

Might be at a loose end with The Gabster as Vic's away - might use the opportunity to warp her young mind even further with the (and apologies to Mr Pete Waters!) "Delicate Sound of Horsepower"

Might have a trek down from the nort east - Harewood is always a good day (assuming of course its not pissing down) - When's everyone going, Sat or Sun? I fancy the Sat because it will be filled with cultured noise (Ferraris & Porsches)

Who's 'we' Stefan? Are you not going to Croft, or are you doing both? (Sorry for the NE hi-jacking)

'we' is me and my mate Teemu and probably my father.

I don't think we are heading to Croft now as there is little point for us - harewood will offer a little more from the spectating point of view

Anybody fancy meeting up for a little drive before getting to Harewood. It's only about 5 miles from me so hardly even got the oil warm by then.

And my odometer is stuck at 45999.5 miles so I'm on free miles at the moment.

Sorry I should have been a bit more sensitive about your unfortunate position.
