New Scameras A660 Leeds

Hi folks. Just noticed that the scameras on the main road I use through Leeds from the University towards Lawnswood are now calibrated so I presume active. Didn't see them flash anyone, but the traffic flowed past them at about 40 in a 30 this morning.. Keep your eyes peeled..
Edited to add - Just in case I can get prosecuted for warning people about accident blackspots, its not me as I can't access PH from work without breaking through all sorts of IT secuity. So someone must have borrowed my account. Ok?

There also at calverly if you turn right before you get to the hill climb.
Bit i can't quite understand is why they have placed the scamera right at the bottom of the hill. Just after the roundabout. You have to thrash it to get it above 60. Can't see the point, they can't rob many people there?
Just looking forward to seing them de-commissioned like the ones around Pudsey
. They would save a lot more lives if they made it a double whiteline all the way down the hill.

They are springing up everywhere around North Leeds at the moment. Driving up the hill from Rodley roundabout to the Green Flag building used to be fun.

Sadly iirc it was 174 mph they beat the camera at in the Tuscan S and I don´t think mine accelerates that fast.
I think Leeds council must have bought a job lot of camera housings recently - the number of new ones is amazing. All along Kirkstall road to the outer ring road, and along the ring road there are loads of new camera boxes - don't seem to have many cameras in them yet - I haven't seen one which is live, but am not prepared to take a chance.
I better keep my eyes open when I'm back then.
I'll tell the girlfriend aswell seeing as she still has the italian driver attitude in her. She'll be spending a lot more time round Beckett Park way come september and she never manages to spot any cameras, even the blindingly obvious ones.

I usually go past them slowly anyway as its more often than not rush hour and there tend to be people around. I'd noticed that there were boxes but no road markings so I guessed they were not active but just there to scare us. Now they are marked up, I'll make sure I stick to the limit even if the road is empty.
Typical. I return to Leeds after a four year sentence in the camera-infested south east only to find them popping up in God's own country.
I think there are two cameras within a few hundred metres on the Otley Road in Leeds (the Arndale centre to Three Horseshoes stretch).
Well, at least there are still some open roads and great scenery. And Joospeed is reachable.

The thing that gets me about Leeds is the inconsistency. Driving in from the A58 (N) you get a 40mph limit along the residential dual carriageways, and loads of cameras. I think the 40 is probably reasonable here as there are houses on both sides.
But if you go back out into the country (before Collingham) there are stretches of wide single carriageway with few or no houses and a 30 limit? I'm sure this used to be a NSL road and I can see no reason for the limit.

I agree about that stretch of the A58 being inconsistent, the 30 limits are oddly placed and mixed with 50mph sections.
Having said that they are also frequently ignored - I suppose some people haven't noticed the changes.

The limits out of Collingham towards Harewood seem ludicrous to me - very difficult to stick to, adn mean that you can't legally overtake in the few places where it would otherwise be safe to do so.
