It's probably somewhere else on here, but I just got back from holiday and don't have time to look.

So

Is there a convoy running down to Pistonfest this year and is it leaving on Friday or Saturday. I think we are planning to head down on Friday afternoon/evening if anyone wishes to join us.

I am aiming to leave on the Friday afternoon at lunch time (14:00 ish). I'm possibly not going a conventional route as I want to stay off the motorway.

Let me know what you were thinking.

A crowd of us will probably be leaving Wooley Edge on the M1 around 1 or 2-ish on the Friday.

I'll join you as well Is someone going to give exact places / times.

Important question for me, what sort of speeds are done in these sort of convoys? (never been on a travelling to get somewhere convoy before). Physical and licence reasons you see (car's doing 3k4 revs at 70ish).

And yes, I'm a wuss when it comes to breaking speed limits.

I'll be sticking to an insurance-premium friendly speed. With 6 points recently acquired on the hunting grounds that are the motorways, I too will be sticking to the ludicrously fast speed that is 70mph.

then the gofer I'd like to introduce your Chim to my Marlin Roadster

No doubt catch you nearer the time, and more than likely we'll add more to the fold as well

Leaving Wooley at 1-2 pm would suit me too.

With regards speed en route, I think the Friday afternoon traffic will retard our progress a little anyway, I can't see the speed going over 80 on the m/way to be honest

Looking forward to it!

Have a good weekend all.

MOD.

So far only Stefan (docevi1) and I are the only NE region folk signed up. I'm travelling Friday and would like to join you. Somewhere on the A1 in the Leeds/York area would make a good meeting place for me. A64 junction is a possible, I believe that's where I met up with you lot last year.

And, yes Steve, I'm with Chim Girl, although not in a literal kind of a sense of course...doh, when I say of course it doesn't mean I wouldn't want...doh.... I mean Adam, not that I would...oh bollox!

As long as we all arrive in time to help James set up the corral, er, I mean picket fence

It would seem that Leaving Wooley Edge at 2pm is the most popular solution so far. I will try and put a full list of people together nearer the time.

This of course will not be a convoy - merely a gathering of like minded people going in the same direction.

Any attempted speed above this (on motorway - afternoon)is just a false economy - may save 5 mins but likelihood of getting nicked outways the benefits
IMHO
