Finally get the headlight rims back on the car after several months of it looking a bit sad, managed to last 4 days then some dozy bint decides to pull right across the road in front of me to enter her drive without indicating. I now have a lost rim, and several nasty looking cracks in the fabric of the bonnet together with crazed paint. Grrr. Didn't hit hard, so other than that, all is ok.

Trouble is, I really need the car for something important in about a fortnight, so I need a good, and fast bodywork repairer to fix the cracks and do a front end respray. I might be restricted by insurance co insisting on someone in particular, but in the absence of this, can anyone suggest anywhere? Sheffield would be a good place, but happy to travel for the right people to get the job done properly..

Highly recommend MOTO-CRAFT in Pudsey, Leeds.

They do all the work for JCT600, i.e, Ferrari, Lotus, Maserati & Porsche.

Speak to Clive on 0113 2562777.

Simon, bad luck.

Several of the WYTVRCC recommend C.S.Lind in Bradford - 01274 727587 ask for Edgar.

No experience of them but there's a mint Vixen I think it is, that has had a complete off chassis respray by them and looked pretty good.

Good luck.

It´s up to you where the car is repaired, it´s just that if it isn´t the insurer´s approved place it may be delayed while they send someone out to approve the quote.

1st quote being prepared now. Looking like a new bonnet as there are too many small cracks all over the front off side for a decent repair. Bugger..

On the positive side, car is still drivable and I'll get a shiny new bonnet/paint job out of it which in fairness it was starting to look like it needed.

With a bit of luck, I'll not loose the car for too long as it may be possible to get the new bonnet prepared while I still have the car, then simply drive it to the garage to have the new one fitted. Its going to need indicators and I was thinking of replacing the headlights anyway. As long as the insurance goes through swiftly and there are no horrors bent under there, it all ought to be ok. :fingercrossed:

Cheers guys.. Will be using a TVR specialist as I'm not trusting it to just anyone. Thats assuming the insurers agree on fault, (i.e. not mine).

So far its looking like a £4K bill in total for a new bonnet and various odds and ends, (indicators, repsray etc). The car was valued by the club at £8.5 18 months ago when I bought it, half the value of the car to repair so looking like a borderline write off.

Might be possible to buy it off them and fix it myself, so thats an option I might think about. I guess I'll just wait to see what they think.

£4k .

Managed to fix the Ginetta for £300, and that includes sticking a wheel back on and new sponsor stickers!

Glad to see you're back around Simon. You coming to Thruxton next weekend - Truck Racing .

PB, this may not help but a local paint/repair shop near me are insurance approved, and will do a superb job - they resprayed my tamora and it was better than the original paint from the factory.

Mail me if you want the details, but it is near Sheffield (s25 postcode).

4k does sound a hell of a lot for a bonnet. Good luck and hope you get it all sorted asap.

Shepley Coachworks at Grange Moor, nr Wakefield. Can't recommend them too highly - did my Griff recently. Repaired rear panel and a few other bits, plus total respray in a different colour for £1540.
Definitely worth giving them a ring

Was just about to chip in and say the same! They resprayed the roof of my Elise and sorted out a nasty 5" (very deep) scratch on the back end of it, all for about £300.

Tony - tell me more!

This is just the sort of recommendation I've been asking about for the last year A good GRP repairer and sprayer in West Yorks... what colour did you change from and to? Have you any pics?

The factory has quoted £2500 + VAT for a full respary - £3500 for a colour change.

You don't know anyone good to redo the carpets do you by any chance?

Changed from Juniper Green to Ocean Haze and did the carpets the month befoe. Used Coverdale Carpets in Wigan and did it myself; 3 days work. Coverdale now have the Griff patterns after doing mine. Full set £250 with a huge choice of colours to choose from.
Don't have any pics yet but should have them on the WYTVRCC site soon

Found Sheply CW to be really honest... I asked them if they'd do the headlight conversion on my Cerb if I supplied the kit. They admitted they'd never done it before, etc. but said they were more than willing to attempt it if I gave them more details, etc. No sign of a "Yeah, we'll do something and bill you for it" attitude.

I think I'm going to get Christopher Neils guy to redo the carpets - £850 + VAT, but that also includes a new back window - and I couldn't do the carpets myself... very low patience threshold

And I was wondering if your guy would be able to do the fully blended rear light conversion - you reckon yes james?

From the quality of their work, I'd say yes. But I'm sure if you ask, they'll give an honest answer.
