Maybe outside the Manchester City ground? On a non matchday of course.

Snakes Pass isnt far off the M60 also, some nice scenery there.

The back streets around the Northern Quarter would make a good backdrop - plenty of original, unrestored mill buildings and were good enough for the recent Captain of America film shoot! Look around Dale Street. There's a lovely quiet cobbled street on Princess St between Asia House and Lancaster House, opposite the corner of the RBS building, I can't remember the name though..

Or head 10 mins out to Salford and the Imperial War Museum and Lowry Centre at Salford Quays.

Castlefield is good too, Coronation Street style close ups, with the Hilton Tower as a background.

Graham the best place to go is the waterfront in Liverpool city centre - used by What Car car of the year recently. Some brilliant locations. Can give you some pointers if you want.

There are quite a few dilapidated back streets just off Deansgate. Outside Rosso can be good with the right car/colour combination if you want to edit for that "selective highlighting" or whatever it's called that I can't do! Bright red "O" on the sign outside lends itself nicely to making the rest of the building B/W.
There is a small dropping off zone opposite the Portland Hotel, which has a handily visible bit looking through the walkway leading beneath 1 Piccadilly to the fountain area.
Slightly further out towards Old Trafford is the dock area which has a huge combination of old mills and warehouses and modern and contemporary buildings as well as the football ground.
