I'm an existing member of Pistonheads but am using an alias for reasons that will become clear.

A guy down the end of my road is buying what I think are write off and repairing them in a double garage before selling them on, presumably for cash.

People turn up on a regular basis to see cars I've never laid eyes on in the road before. Whether these people know about the cars' histories I don't know.

He's been at it for about 6 weeks now and I'm tired of it.

Can anyone assist?

There's a text thing if you don't find anyone.

Google Carchecker or something. It costs you £3 in text messages and all done and texted to your phone.

They were a lot more than that the last time I did one.

Yup £3 is all it costs these days.

It will give you the basics and whether they are on the insurance register.

The guy is probably buying unregistered damaged cars and doing them up, and to be honest if he's not upsetting you with noise or cars parked all over the place I'd be inclined to mind my own business smile

That's precisely what he's doing. I've lost count of the amount of times he's blocked my drive in.

There isn't. Usually.

However, he's breaking planning regs (if I wanted to live within 50 yards of a working garage, I'd have bought a house within 50 yards of a working garage) and I think he's mis-selling cars (though I'm not saying how I 'know').

He would need permission if he was repairing cars on behalf of people walking in off the street and if he were advertising for work, if he was painting cars, he'd also need to ensure that all the regulations surrounding that were followed . . . . . if he's not doing either of those things, you'll be st out of luck

My suggestion is to grow a pair of testicles, speak to the guy and ask him to stop blocking your driveway!
