Heard a horrid rumour 2 more cameras have gone up, so you can't drive macc - the pub without staring at the speedo )when you should be avoiding bikes).

Any locals able to confirm / deny?

The average speed cameras have been up for over a year. The road is a 50 limit, but there is a shortcut @ 60 which means they have had to set the cameras to average 60mph. And an average of 60 on that road isn't ipossible, but you have to have a very, very fast car and balls the size of melons to comprehend that kind of speed, they are a waste of money, and will realistically only get the powerangers on bikes, but they dont have front numberplates anyway. If you are still scared there are some other good roads around the area though.

Thanks, but I've been going there during the last year - I know about these cameras.

today, I read that they'd put an extra 2 up so that it covers:
a) the "short cut" road, so the loophole closes
and
b) the road from macc to the C+F pub.

Before, (or possibly still now, if my info is wrong), you could do normal pace through to the pub, and stop there - as you only passed 1 camera. According to the forum I read today, thats no longer the case =(

I've not heard anything about it tbh, nor have I been up there in a week or two. I'll be cycling in the Forest this Sunday but I doubt I'll get up to the pub to check it out. I'll keep my ears/eyes peeled for any local info. Sounds like the sensible thing to do from the Councils pov, if they want these cameras to "save lives" <stifles a cynical laugh>... Its yet more money pumped into a pointless exercise imho but hey...

If they really wanted to save lives, they'd ban the burgers at the C+F. I swear the last one I had was harder than granite!

There are a couple of new cameras, a mate was up there yesterday.
Still goning to burn it coz it will not make a difference when using the "short cuts" really.
