We're about to move to Warrington at the start of next month, having sold our house and bought a new one near to Bewsey.

A few questions for those of you living in the area:

- Where to go for something to eat at night? We're completely new to the area, having lived in Manchester, but we went to Stockton Heath and it looked nice

- Where is my local friendly garage? Any recommendations? I have a VW at the moment, but am happy to use anywhere that does good work

- How long realisitically is it going to take me to drive into Manchester in the morning and getting home at 5pm? I need to work in Manchester on odd occassions. What time do I need to set off to be at work at 8/8:30am and what time will I be home if I finish at 5/5:30pm?

- And since I'm asking everything else here, is anyone on Sky Broadband there? I'm looking to transfer it over as I'm on the TV/Broadband/Phone package but I know the speeds/reliability are entirely dependant upon location

Hi mate,

I'm in Westbrook at the moment.

Stockton Heath is nice, as is the Rams Head in Grappenhall, there's plenty of nice places about smile

I use ATC Ltd near the crossroads by the Lord Rodney pub, nice independent garage.

I work in Liverpool but it takes me about 40 minutes to get into Liverpool and about the same to get back unless there's traffic problems.

For broadband reports go here: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/index.php

Hi. We're in Warrington, or at least nearby now as we've just moved south of the town - stayed in Sankey before.

Food wise Stockton Heath has loads to offer and easy to get a taxi - although I prefer it during the week as full of idiots at the weekend IMO. We like a load of the pubs south of town, but they all involve driving. Lymm is also worth a little drive out for some nice restaurants.

We tend to maintain out cars at home, but we also use ATC for MOTs and alignment. The guys run race/track cars and really do know their stuff - very nice to deal with and always send you a nice reminder that the MOT's due smile

Travel wise, it really depends where in Manchester you need to go. I'm based at Trafford Park for work and it would take me about 45mins from J8 of the M62 at peak time in the morning. Is stop start until you're past Birchwood most mornings.
It's always quicker I find on the way home, biggest delay I'd have was getting over Barnton Bridge on the M60 - once on the M62 it would flow pretty well.

Not on Sky so can't help with the broadband question!

Bewsey will most likely be LLU which means that you get a good pick of cheap superfast internet.

Personally I would use Be Internet. But I believe LLU Sky is very good.

Thanks for replies guys.

Looks like I've found where to eat and my garage then.

I will be working on Aytoun Street in Manchester, but parking in China Town... so I'm right in the centre. I was thinking of going Regent Road, Mancunian Way and in... but at that time I think it will be chaos?

Was going to go with Sky broadband just as it made sense cost wise with having Sky TV. We are on Be* at the other house at the moment, its very reliable and fast but with Sky on top we'd be paying £10-£20 more a month.

I think you'll be OK with Sky as long as it's LLU.

Hoi Tin in town is quite nice for a late night Chinese. Shelly's in town is nice home cooked AGA food as well.

I live in Lowton which is about 4 miles out of Warrington.
I used to work centre of Manchester and used to go M62/M602 or East Lancs. Rush hour would take about 45 mins but outside of that it would be 20mins.

Hi there, a good garage to look into might be Awesome GTI. They are based just outside Warrington and are a VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda specialist. Worth looking them up at awesome-gti.co.uk

Hope that helps, and gives you a choice smile

Hi,

Good luck with the move.

I only work in Warrington but would recommend Duck Egg Bleu or Spice Lounge in Culcheth for something to eat.

Car-wise - JVW @ Haydock, about 15 mins from Warrington is always competitive and does a great job on anything VAG. No issues with recommending them.

JVW Ltd. 4a, Piele Rd, Haydock, St. Helens, Merseyside WA11 0JY Tel: 01942 722022

wavey Me too.

Another vote for Culcheth for food too, if you get bored of Stockton Heath. There's a few good restaurants there, and the food in The Cherry Tree pub is usually good. A surprisingly good night can be had in there on a Saturday night too.

I can back up Culcheth eateries too.

If you like Italian you've got two choices.

Sopranio's has great food. Never had a bad meal there.

Then you've got Don Luigi's. Food isnt as good but its smaller and has more of an Italian atmosphere to it.
