Things to do in Blackpool?
Discussion
Evening folks, myself, the wifey and our 2 year old boy are off to Blackpool in the morning for a long weekend, returning on Sunday or Monday, has anyone got any suggestions for things to keep us amused? I think the wife would like a days shopping somewhere and we would like to find somewhere child friendly for evening meals? Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Isle of wightSpent 2 weeks in Blackpool back in '85 when I was 18.
Great laugh! Got laid with 'Carry-On cast' Northeners everynight (& day) some with cleavages like you wouldn't believe, visited the TVR factory and saw 350is being built, got drunk everyday and rode on the trams.
Sorry, just read the OP again, and don't think you'll do any of that.
The trams might be a good bet though.
Plus the Pleasurebeach rides are good.

It is the last weekend of the Illuminations, so wrap up warm and walk the length of the Prom - or if you get tired jump on one of the trams.
Stanley Park to go play in.
Not sure if Panto Season has started yet, if it has..take the little one.
Go up the Tower and do the Walk Of Death (or whatever it is called).
Shopping is going to be a struggle unless she likes Top Shop / Primark / TK Maxx, the town centre has really been hit with the recession.
Bear in mind that Blackpool Town Centre on a weekend's evening isn't really a place for kids
Used to be that it was 1/2 price at the Pleasure Beach as well on the last weekend.
Plenty of places to eat, Harry Ramsdens & Pizza Hut to GastroPubs at the Pleasure Beach.
There may be a big firework display on the prom - usually is for Bonfire night.
What hotel are you in..? They will have some idea of organised things.

Fairly tame replies so far! Did the big one last time I went (14 years ago I think), we would have gone further afield but after getting married recently Mrs T still hasn't sorted out changing the name on her passport so Blackpool it is!
A bit OT but, we got married yonks ago and the wife still has her passport in her maiden name 'cos I'm too tight to pay the extortionate cost of a replacement before I have to. She just takes her marriage certificate when we go abroad, never had a problem.Gaffer said:

Oh no it hasn't..........Not sure if Panto Season has started yet, if it has..take the little one.
Seriously, take plenty of warm clothing, the wind can be biting this time of year.
Blackpool is good fun, providing you accept it for what it is..A no frills cheap 'n cheerful traditional seaside holiday resort....although I wouldn't want to spend more than a couple of days there, unless the sun was cracking the flags......
A visit to the old TVR factory is a must though, for any Pistonheader.....
