hey hey guys,

i need to shift my project car (mk1 golf) to a garage to have the cage fitted and car painted.

However being 23 i cant tow so i need a recovery truck to hire (self drive) on the 16th and 17th november.

im based in stockport/bramhall/ macclesfield area

any one know of anyone local that does something, or any of you guys own one that doesnt mind hiring it out biggrin

Be careful - your licence means you can't drive anything with a MGW over 3.5 tonnes too and I'd expect most car transporters to be more than that.

normal 3.5t transporters (transit type ones) are OK on standard car licences.

you can also drive a 3.5t vehicle with a trailer attached with a MAM of no more than 750kg

its so confusing haha.

However I suspect the recovery vehicle being 7.5t you probably cannot drive it frown

yeah 3.5t max frown

if anyone has any links etc?

all the companys ive spoken to seem to not to want to hire thier vehicles out lol

Or a tow car with a braked trailer with a MAM of less than the unladen weight of the tow car and the MAM of the whole lot is less than 3.5 tons (that's quite confusing...), which is what I do for trailering my track car.

For a one off I'd probably just use www.shiply.com and get someone to take it for me.

i did look at shiply but its going from manchester to london and im tieing the trip in with seeing friends in that direction. plus i quite like road trips biggrin

time alone, time to mull things over if u get me haha

id tow it but i know id get caught and i dont really fancy the sorry mr officer i know nothing about cars speach when i have my own project car on the back haha

Chorley van hire is another option.
