Hi all,

I am currently quite concerned as a number of my friends cars have all been keyed recently. About 2 weeks ago my brothers car was parked on Kylemore Drive in Pensby/Heswall overnight. The passenger side was scratched right the way down the vehicle, from the wing to the rear quarter and the tyres were also slashed. I later find out that further down the road, another friend of mine had her MINI Cooper keyed, tyres slashed and headlight smashed. The following week they returned and poured paint stripper on the bonnet.

This now brings me onto last week, where another friend of mine; her Fiesta was keyed, but to the extent of a near write-off. The drivers side has been deeply scratched to the bare metal, not to mention every panel on the rear has been engraved with a sharp object. This isn't a quick 10 second job, but a good 5 minutes spent at the rear of the vehicle scratching every bit of paint & panel visible. Quoted £1000 to repair, she's having to claim on the insurance with an excess of £400.

The incidents have all been reported and nearby CCTV's checked, but to no avail. This all makes me feel that we're being targeted, but my friends are a decent circle of people, we cant think of anyone we could have annoyed to instigate the vandalism. It's all too coincidental, so who's next.

Keep and eye out and be vigilant. If you know of anyone else who has had their car vandalised in the Pensby area, be sure to report it.

What to do?

Cheers.

You can add the damage done to my 911 last year to the list Tom and I think keeping cars locked up inside next weekend would a sensible move . . . . . . . .used to be a nice area frown

I'm pretty sure there was a spate of this not so long ago in a similar area? I'm sure it made the news.

Warren Drive - male sexual organs spraypainted on bonnets!

The whole world is going to the dogs and the scum bags are now finding themself more mobile and no longer restricted to their stinking slums such as Poulton/Seacombe/Moreton.

Well my Mini was vandalised outside work yesterday. Left the office to see kids throwing half bricks from building opposite, at the row of parked cars outside our building. My car was parked nearest so I have a dented exhaust, scuffs on rear and a massive dent in the roof and bonnet where a big brick must have bounced. I love Bootle!!

Can anyone recommend a bodyshop on Wirral or in Liverpool who would be able to look at a repair?

That is outrageous. Anything done about it?

Police came to a non-emergency call out (40 mins) took my details, rang me with crime reference number and then rang me now to close case as I wouldnt be able to identify any of them.

"white kids in black tracksuits" only narrows it down to 50% of population of Liverpool.

Ahhh the old Chairman Mao uniform, sorry to hear about this, about 10 years ago I parked my car on the streets of Bootle everyday, without so much as a scratch.

I can recommend a few bodyshops both in town and over here (wont be recomending the bodyshop in Neston, Alex took his car to last year though) including a couple of damn good ones a little bus trip down the dock road from Bootle.

Have you checked with your insurance co if vandalism claims affect your no claims?

Please don't. They ruined my poor car requiring another bodyshop to rectify!

I'm guessing it will. Thinking I should at least get some quotations so I know ballpark what it will cost. Then, if needs be log it with insurers (SwiftCover). Following reading the "Insurance, whats the point" Rant on GG I'm swaying more towards sucking up the cost and paying for it out of my pocket.

To be fair to Bootle, car has been alright for last 12 months. Just with it being half term the kids are running wild. Only 3 weeks left in Bootle now before I move to the Midlands which probably wont be much better. Car will be in secure carpark during day though.

Christ. What goes through someone's mind when they think it's alright to throw bricks at someone's car? I swear if I ever got hold of someone that had done something like that to my wife's car (not bothered about my st-box) I would pummel them.

You may want to get somebody else to call your insurance and ask the question, thereby mitigating any risk that they may note that something has happend and put up your renewals.

I know Direct Line have a system where vandalism claims dont count against NC, but I couldnt recomend them.

A cunning yet simple plan. I'll get someone not on the policy to give them a bell later.
