The Frozen Mop is a good shout, just on the road from me. Same people that own the Merlin isn't it??

Might give the Duke of Portland a try myself, nice little run out too if you stick to the twisties!!

Frozen Mop is indeed owned by the same operator as The Merlin.

The Wizard is worthy of consideration too:

The Golden Pheasant in Plumley has gone from strength to stength in the past 12 months. The food is reasonably priced, beer is expensive but there's quite often some interesting metal parked in the carpark.

The Bells of Peover is a lot better than it used to be, but expensive.

I came very close, thought it best to use a bit of restaurant though.

I can highly recommend the Plough & Flail in Mobberley, it's a lovely place and the food certainly used to be good.

There's also The Dog in Peover for a more traditional pub feel

Ended up at the frozen mop. Very nice and the bill came to £40.55 so bang on target. Airport tunnel is in a contraflow tho.... No fun frown

I tried the The Duke of Portland on Sunday. Food was ok, similar quality to what I had in the Weatherspoons in Wilmslow on friday lunchtime, only twice as expensive. Saw two other tables return food to the kitchen - wont be going back there.

Was that at lunchtime or in the evening, Adam? They seem to run out of food there come sunday evening. Given that it's run by (the Belle Epoque) Mooneys, they wouldn't be happy to hear your comments I'm sure.
