PH things to do near Liverpool?

Come Friday I'll be moving to Liverpool, I'm going for University and for the first few months anyway i won't have a car.

I'll be new to the area, and to be honest I don't know of alot of PH/Car related things that go on around the North West. I think Oulton Park is fairly closeby..

So is there anything, I'll basically just have my camera with me, and I'll be doing everything on foot/public transport.. Are there any PH meets, events etc? Don't really fancy goin to a cruise or anything..

Yes, there is Oulton Park but it's over an hour away.

Aintree Racecourse has the old GP circuit that is sometime still used by the Liverpool Motor Club

I think there are a few meets around the area. One near Rainford, one on the Wirral. Don't know how easy they are to get to via public transport but I am sure someone will pick you up from a station if you wanted to come out.

Oulton Park has a lot of stuff on but is difficult to get to public transport, plus the season is winding down now anyway.

There are the beaches Hall road/Crosby or Formby easy to get to on the train.

(I grew up in formby about 1/2 hour north of the centre)

If you are in Liverpool this weekend on Saturday there is a tarmac stage rally on the New Brighton promenade. This is just across the river from the city - a short train journey and a 5 minute walk. To find out if there is anything going on motorsport wise try the websites for Liverpool Motor club or ANWCC ( assoc of North West Car clubs).

Ah, what a shame! I've been here since Friday, definitely would have went out to that.
