A friend and I are going out in Manchester tomorrow night, staying near Picadilly Gardens.

Been to 5th Ave and didn't really like it. Would ideally like somewhere with cheap drinks to warm up, then somewhere were I can embarrass myself on a dancefloor. Music can be 80's or dance smile.

Any recommendations?

Don't you mean Anal Treet? That's what the sign used to say after some wag defaced it.

No it isn't.

I lived in Manchester for 24 years, very rarely have i actually seen football fans fighting.

Do you really think fights break out in clubs in Manchester because off football? why would the subject even come up when your in a club?

We have the biggest football club in the world and also the richest too, a stones throw from the centre and you are right, no footy trouble.
I worked in city centre venues for 10 years, still do, and never had any trouble.

That means you have seen them fighting, It is only meant as a light hearted joke, which I would have said about any city centre!

Full of chavs.

As mentioned the Northern Quarter is great, and if you fancy going to the best Indian restaurant then Akbars on Liverpool Road is unbeatable.

If you want cheesey music and a laugh, then you should at least pop into http://www.fabcafe.co.uk/ Its an odd place but it can be amusing for a while. Handy for Piccadilly too.

Get in a taxi and ask for the Northern Quarter. Lots of bars ranging from Jazz to Caribbean cocktail and everything in-between. You should be well serviced there.
this or if you are into "posh" clubs Bijou is good.

Mojos down the back of Deansgate is pretty good, decent mix of music, drinks aren't too extortionate and has a good atmosphere, anywhere else I go probably isn't your cup of tea...
