I go through the average speed cameras nr Stockport on the M60 every day, and see people going through (its a 50mph zone) at like 80mph all the time. Do these cameras not work? Has anyone on here ever been caught by them?

Cheers

Not sure about the M60 ones, the ones on the M6 at Haydock, if you are coming from Warrington side and coming off at Haydock you could if you wanted do 120mph as you only pass one set of cameras..smile

Work about as well as the ones on the weekend roadwork ones between the M62 and Chadderton then. Muggins here trundles through at the perscribed 40 and watches pretty much all & sundry rattle past at 55+.
Oh well, good job I have other reasons to stick to 40 and at least I know I'm 100% safe from tax.

The cameras near Stockport around Bredbury may work, they may not.

Do you feel lucky??

I've heard they can't catch you if you change lanes in between.
Try it, see what happens wink

I have a friend who claims to know people who have been caught - and when the camera on the Bredbury exit was swapped for a non-standard model they got a kosher one in PDQ.

I'm not convinced of their authenticity but have enough doubt not to test it. An indicated 60 seems to be fine without swapping lanes.

They do work and when they became live in March of this year they caught 700 motorists in the first hour.

A mate of mine works at the Highways Agency on the roundabout at Bredbury smile

Also changing lanes is a myth.

Lane changing was an issue only on the very first ones many years ago, this "feature" was eliminated years ago, there was a story about it on the bbc news website a while ago.

Always go through at 50 myself, not worth the risk. I also see people bombing through though, so not sure if they work or not.

Sorry to hear that Fezza. How you can sleep with yourself at night doing those criminal speeds is beyond me, won't you even think of the children! wink

Question is - when are the "Camera's are not in use" camera's going to be working? If at all....

Ah, glad I always slow down then. Sorry for you though...

Which cameras not in use? You mean just before Blackley? I think they were in use when the contraflow was in place (Which seemed to be every weekend for the past month or so while they installed the catseyes or something)

Sorry over "thread from a bygone era" but is it this camera on the M60/Bredbury?

http://menmedia.co.uk/stockportexpress/news/s/1465...

I was under the impression it was a sole camera? The ones on the M60 seem to be linked? Anyone able to clarify?

APOLOGIES - read up on the subject and it is essentially what we lovingly call "a speed trap" i.e two interlinked cameras, as opposed to, sole item.

That corner was always a bit hairy at 85mph years ago before the cameras were put in, 150mph might be pushing it a little!

'twas a good few years ago in my not so sensible days.

I've not met this "arse". Although I work with a few.
