Garage in South Manchester
Discussion
Hi,
After much scrimping and saving I am finally nearly ready to buy a Lotus Elise for a weekend car.
I live in a terrace house with no off road parking so would like to store it in a garage during the week when I am not using it as I reckon that it will help with the insurance and keep the car safer and drier.
I have had a quick look on the net and can't see much in the way of garages near where I live. There are loads in the city centre but they seem to be very expensive and too far away to easily access the car.
Does anyone know where the best place to find garages is and how much should it cost?
Cheers

There's quite a few 60's low rise blocks of flats around South Manchester with rows of garages below/round the back.
I went round some and left 'garage wanted' notes tru some doors.
Got quite a good response from a few places- now rent a garage in Withington, £35 a month. That seems to be the going rate for a council garage too (but their waiting lists are very long!)

Cheers for all the replies.
I did hear back from the non profit that run the housing around here and they don’t do garages any more.
Next step is to try a notice in the newsagent and drop a few fliers in the nearby flats that have garages behind them.
Kickstart thanks for the offer. I am in Northenden so will try a bit closer to home before I bother you.
Going test driving again on Sunday can wait!

Holy thread resurrection Joe.
I'd be interested to know what impact putting such a car in a rented garage would have on insurance costs. I'd considered doing something similar myself, but was worried that my car would be far more likely to get nicked from a rented garage away from our house. I always remember a friend of my dad returned to his rented garage years ago to find his Lotus Elan completely stripped - it was just the shell left on bricks. It looked like the thief had spent several weeks stripping the car.
