I live in pensby, so I will keep my eyes and ears open for you
Thanks Mark are you coming to the Cottage loaf meet on Thursday?A little bit of an update:
Had a call this morning from a rather helpful chap in Pensby advising that his wife had spotted a load of business cards and bits of paper with my companies details on, scattered all over Gills lane (the one that goes from the Pensby Fish Bar (best chipy within walking distance)to near the Fox and Hounds)) had a bit of a wander down there to pick them up and look to see if any of the more expensive things nicked were also chucked out ( yes I know I was being a tad hopeful!) for a mile or so from there to a little way down towards Levers Causeway, was like a bread crumb trail, with business cards / flyers for the 4 businesses and a cheque book!
You have no idea the strange looks I got wandering along, seemingly picking up litter, whilst wearing latex gloves!
The upside is that with any luck the bits of shiny plastic (old Ferrari owners club membership badges) I picked up will hopefully have a finger print on . . . . . . . . . and of course getting at least one of the cheque books in the car back has eased my mind a tad, although still left without a road legal car (you have no idea how much good natured abuse that’s got me over the past 2 days!) and have to change all the locks and alarms tomorrow.
So far Merseyside Police have been great . . . . . . . I'll have to reserve judgment on the three insurance co's involved till they actualy call me back!
I feel for you
I'm in West Kirby and back in 2003 the slime balls had broken into my house to take my car keys, thankfully car was retrieved and the tracker on the car did the job. The car was parked up for a week before it was found by the police - the usual trick waiting to see if the car did have a tracker unit.
Like you I found the local Police force to be great and kept me in touch at all times, at the time they said that Heswall,Caldy and West Kirby were experiencing on average three car thefts a week where the slime balls break into the house for the keys.
You would be alarmed how few police cars have the device to pick up the signal that is emitted from a tracker unit

Hi Andrew,
I have only just noticed this thread & you've made me more paranoid. Have you posted/reported it stolen on TWOC?
I hope you get your car back and I also hope to see you thursday. Take care.
I've been thinking..
What night was the Golf stolen and at approximately what time? I know that Laird's Assessors (Opposite old Lookers site) have CCTV at 'front of house' which does capture vehicles heading towards Heswall. It might be worth looking into if you can get an idea of time and what direction they travelled. Also, Los Cabos (bar in heswall opposite Ladbrookes) CCTV also captures part of the road.
Regards

Sorry to hear this, hope you get everything sorted and that the fker dies slowly and painfully soon.
It sounds like they targeted you and it wasn't a "Chancer" have the police said as much?
Thanks all for the kind words. It sounds like they targeted you and it wasn't a "Chancer" have the police said as much?
The Police think it was targeted (3 cars outside and yet they broke into the house to take the golf), there have been several other similar thefts recently, all of relatively quick yet subtle VW/Audi's, although the CID bod I spoke to this morning did seem rather hopeful of getting it back . . . . . . . although not sure if given the choice I'd want it back if it was damaged.
Sorry haven’t got any real updates, the car hasn’t been found as yet , was going to use a Mondial QV as a run-around, but the one I had in mind was a little too far gone and only suitable for breaking, so I’m currently enjoying one of Mr Hertz’s lovely diesel fiestas! . . . . . . . .Not entirely sure on what’s going to replace the golf as yet, torn between getting an estate through the business that I can use to tow our covered trailer or simply replacing it with another golf (the R looks fun)
One thing I can now offer is an opinion on the claims handling of the two insurers (one has a red telephone for a logo and the other is a supermarket with orange lettering and bags ) both truly appalling and not companies I’ll ever recommend use again! . . . . . . Merseyside Police however have been superb
