Good pubs in/around Buxton ?
Discussion
Got an few mates coming together one evening for a pint, and as one happens to be working in Buxton for a few days it seems fitting we head there, only I don't know of any decent pubs in that area?? Don't suggest Cat n Fiddle, cos its ok for a flat coke but not somewhere I'd want to spend a few hours relaxing..
Any ideas folks? We don't mind heading out of town a mile or two if there's one worth trying.
Preferably one with a decent carpark too as we'll all be arriving seperately and being car nerds we don't want to have to dump the cars anyoldwhere.
cheers

Only just seen this so hope it`s not to late,if you want good food and a beer try the bull i thorn on the A515 about 3-4 miles out of town. There`s also the Waterloo on the A6 towards Taddington, not sure about the quality of food but always looks busy. There`s the Beehive in the village of Coombs, between Whaley Bridge and Chapel, the Shady Oak over long hill, the road between Buxton and Whaley Bridge. The advantage of living in Buxton, good pubs and even better roads.
Does bonkers, unimproved and proper village tick the boxes?

In Earl Sterndale.
Last time I was there the landlords turkey 'went' for me through a window (closed). It serves a village and the passing trade is walkers - this place is off the beaten track.
Good for real ale and sitting round the open fire.
