Anyone up for a blast out this evening on the bikes? In fact, anyone with a car as well.Seems a shame to waste a nice evening...Anyhoo,just a thought!

I'm near J27 M6.North of Wigan.I ended up going over Rivington,Belmont,then Trough of Bowland,Devil's Bridge.Stretched my legs for five minutes,then came back.It's a good ride/drive.

I used to get up to Rivvie Barn every Sunday on the bike, I presume its still packed on a sunny day? smile Belmont road used to be my fave twisty run before heading over to Chorley direction on the fast roads biggrin

Yes,it's still packed, especially on a Sunday. The road 'over the top' is awesome when you get a clear run isn't it! There are a few parts where I get airborne. The fast road towards Chorley is good, but,as over the Cat & Fiddle, apparently they use the police helicopter.I've yet to see it(I presume they'll only use it on a Sunday),but it does make me a little nervous.
I generally go over that way during the week,as at the weekend you get all sorts wobbling around up there.Might have a potter up there this afternoon if anyone fancies it.

I was still young when I used to go up there so the bikes weren't much cop for high speed stuff, (we still kept an eye out for Plod) but the twisty Belmont run was ideal - best bikes I took up there were the KMX200 and RGV250 I had after that, both superbly adapted to that road in their own ways. biggrin And yes, its easily possible to get airborne! So I'm told.

I actually live five minutes from the Cat n Fiddle now, and like you I stick to weeknights for a fun run over there. You still get some sneaky Plod hanging around if its a nice night though. Boo hiss.
