Looking for somewhere close to Manchester to go on Monday for a bit of food with a few old friends who have made the trip over.

I've been to Inn at Whitewell and enjoyed it, looking for something similar but possibly a little closer for a Monday night drive out for some food. Any good suggestions? Is there anywhere as good in Chorlton/Wilmslow/Alderley Edge? These are easily accessible to all of us.

Try Oddest in Chorlton. I haven't been in but I have been to their other 2 branches, Odd and Odder and the food in both was superb.

The Wizard at Alderley Edge, its a bit up itself but the grub is decent. Take Macc road from Alderley Edge village, its just on the outskirts.

Thanks for replies guys. I've been to Odder in Manchester, and it was nice, but we're looking more for an 'authentic' pub, rather than the contemporary thing.... yes, I am picky.

The Wizard sounds good... thanks again.

Try Sutton Hall in Macclesfield- it's in a great setting, or The Roebuck in Mobberley.

Can't really knock the other above ^ either.

Where did you go in the end?
Next time try "The Romper" at the back of the airport, near the AVP.

We ended up going to Sutton Hall. Very nice place, we got a table in the library with a roaring fire going on a pretty cold Monday night... was very nice place, setting and the food was good too.

Nope, they go to Greggs in the airport smile

The Romper is more likely to be full of airport staff wanting something a bit better than the overpriced generic awfulness available in the terminals. It's better than average pub food without being 'special' and priced accordingly.

Or slide left after the Kings and try the Leathers Smithy, nice place to go for a bite and lovely views of the reser and forest yum.
Or a left then right up to Hanging gate, great views and decent grub,

Both 5 mins from sutton hall
