Planning to visit Old Trafford this Sunday for the game
If the weather is nice I'd love to take my 360 for a drive there
Simple question - are there any secure parking not far from Old Trafford where I can leave my car for few hours? I've never been to Manchester before but I do feel uncomfortable leaving the car outside on Pay & Display.
Please help
Thx

Check into a decent hotel that has secure parking. Some places have underground parking? You get to make a night of it too then! And have a drink if you wish!

I don't think I'll be spending a night there TBH. I believe the game should end by 18:00 so I hope to be back to London by 10pm.

There is a car park behind the Hilton Hotel, but I'm not sure of any closing time they have. There are often some ratger expensive cars in there so I'd guess it to be ok, there's also a multi-story opposite the Hilton which is used a lot by hotel guests. Failing that, just pop it up King Street as it'll be safe there.

BTW; None of those are close to OT, but it is a very short walk to the tram station where you can get straight there and back quickly.

Hi,

if you go behind the Hilton hotel there is a car showroom for Alfa's and American cars called Bauer and Millet. They also allow you to park in there, about £5 for half a day. You could then jump on the tram to Old Trafford which is close by, or a taxi.

The car is perfectly safe in there, I saw a Murci there a few weeks ago, and I always parked the cayman in there with no issues. I've just bought a 360 spider and that will be going in there too!

Alex, next to the trafford pub is a office complex that has secure parking on match days. Your car would be ok as long as you are a united fan..... LOL

Bauer Millets usually has some nice metal parked in there (Both in the showroom and the car park!). Either that, or park in Great Northern which is just across the road.

As others have said, get the tram to OT, or do as I did last season and get the boat from Dukes 92!

I am wink Not that big fan though but I am
Looks like I'll be taking my Cayenne instead, safer option, or even my friends Mazda & get him driving - so I can have couple of beers wink

Thx a lot guys. Looks like Manchester + safe parking doesn't really work here. Gonna save me 400+ miles on odometer of my 360 and a lot of nerves wink

What a load of scensoredte!
Yes, 'cause we don't have any nice cars in Manchester, 2 Lambo main dealers, 1 Ferrari main dealer and numerous other top of the range cars, somehow they all survive the mean streets of Manchester.
Why bother coming at all, bloody tourist!

lol, MF. I used to live off of Chester road, by the urban splash building. The three times I left my 320d on the street, it got broken into. 3 out of 3. With nowt on show (3rd time I'd even opened the glovebox + centre console to show empty).

A car that's actually nice would have no chance. None whatsoever.

Nobody was suggesting leaving the car parked on Chester Road or its environs, i doubt you could park there on a matchday anyway.

What I objected to was the OP's suggestion that there was nowhere secure and safe to park a decent car in Manchester, and that there were no decent cars in Manchester as a result.
AS people suggested you could easily park in Great Northern and take the tram or a taxi.
It was the typical opinion of a "tourist" United fan that wound me up.

There are plenty of expensive cars around south Manchester, which suffer no damage, and easy tram links to Old Trafford from Sale & Altrincham.

Maybe it's just the areas you choose to live in?

I work in the centre of Manchester and to be honest I'd never drive there and leave my car if I didn't have a space at the office.

I work in the centre of Manchester and leave my car there every day, in private car parks, secure public car parks and on the odd occasion, the bit of spare land car parks around the back of Abito in Salford.

Never had a problem in 5 years, touch wood.

Well secure manned car parks are fine too, but I'm too paranoid to leave it on any space I can find otherwise! Whether there's any sense in that, or just that I don't trust people who knows!

I think a lot of it is preconceptions. I work my day job in centre of Manchester, and also work a second job at nights doing takeaway delivery. This involves parking my car in most parts of Manchester (And in most cases for 5min+ as most people seem to fail to answer the door or phone after the 6th attempt...) and never had any problems.

Also leave my car in parking bays in and around town for free after 6pm and also on single yellow lines when going out, again... never a problem. *touch wood*
